Hostgator is terrible. Can anyone recommend a good web host?

Thank you to everyone for their suggestions. I'm looking into all of them. What is a good host review site? Many review sites seem to be affiliates so finding genuine reviews is tricky. I've been looking through webhostingreviews and whoishostingthis.

netcraft has some interesting insights into the best hosts in the world, performance-wise. Costs are another thing entirely, of course. (google for netcraft uptime)

MTUser2010: care to name your VPSes?

    Thanks

oozyluce, does the grid server option let you have any hands-on control like a dedicated server would, or is it all control panels? Went to their site and it looked like the latter, but wasn't sure.

    Thank you

if hostgator is not working for you try bluehost, most of the members out here were seemed to support hostgator and bluehost in most of the threads floating around....

and godaddy might disappoint you, if hostgator didnt work out godaddy is worse

    cheers!

don't go with ipage and its sister companies (wouldn't name them)

I use Bluehost and I've never had a problem. Customer support is good and my site loads quickly.

I know - I know - this is reply number??? Anyway, better late than never so here we go. Let me first say that I have no experience with Host Gator but a lot of experience with other bad hosting providers. That happened a few years ago. Since 2010 I'm hosting with Linux Hosts Ltd. ( see the website "weloveourhost" ) and everything is more than fine, actually everything is perfect. Cheap web hosting on a shared server with only a few other customers on the same server, that's not bad and, to be honest, I'm super happy with this company. Technical client support couldn't be better in my opinion.

    I vote for Namecheap.com hosting.
2 years with them, not a single problem.
Previously I was using Dreamhost.com - they are just horrible.
    Avoid them at all costs.

HG is the best host I have seen if you provide true info. Bluehost is another best option for you.

I too had a similar issue, but lucky I have accounts with other providers and I can recommend hawkhost and liquidweb, but don't do anything stupid with them, else you will have even bigger problems that you're facing now.

only been 8 months in the game. Hostgator has been good so far. Only issue I had was with the ph timeout, but tbh, you want to use a vps if you planning to have any "big" thing on your site.

lol i agree i had to switch from Godaddy cause they were awful with loading website etc, also every time i logged on they tried selling me something or the other. I recently moved to hostgator and their tech support were superb.Hopefully this remains the case for a long time.

In the meanwhile OP try Bluehost i had them ages go they were good
