HELP! I'm being attacked!

Hey everyone, so I took a job as a social media marketer for a company. We make a lot of money off of product specific forums. I'm not sure why we are being attacked, I have to think it is because we are taking away from other people's market share but things are getting dirty.

#1 The competition has hired a firm or is creating new accounts on the forums and trashing us. It's resulting in a lot of concerned customers and some cancelled orders. The claims are false but it is planting seeds of doubt for sure.

#2 Now this has bled over to our Facebook. I have searched these Facebook users images and found them traced back to semi-famous people. A few of them I have called their employers listed on Facebook and they aren't real.

So my question is two parted. #1 What do you think is the best defense? #2 Do you know of any firms that do this type of work?

As far as facebook, if people are using fake names , you can report them and FB will take them down.

Then you can use that info on your site to show to your customers that you are being targeted by fake people to ruin your rep.

In the past, I have reported people who I knew were using fake info on FB, namely someone who had the FB page "Earl Hickey" and was trolling news sites, defending miss stabby, "jodi arias"
FB took the page down the same day too.

Just delete the troll accounts on your forums and perhaps make it so new members posts have to be approved.

Thanks for the help! I just went back to the fake users and saw they had changed their names and photos already! Plus, they just go to sites and talk trash on all kinds of products which is why I want to see if this is a firm...

I am pretty sure you can still report them to FB, just go through the options and pick the most correct report to make.
Perhaps even screen shot it all, create threads to show their activity to your customers.

This way, even if the trolls are using proxies and just create new FB accounts, your customers will realize what is going on.
Also, try to contact your previous customers and explain you need their honest reviews to show your products are legit.

this is where negative SEO would work best for you.......... I would use a SEO company to put out things like READ BEFORE PURCHASE..and basically state that you are being targeted and to be careful of scammers out there. THey are bashing companies to make their product better.....here is that company or people or whoever is attacking you. Your SEO should be from a 3rd party perspective and pushing or leading the clients or readers right back to your product. I have used this BEFORE anyone attacked or bashed on me and used it as a form of marketing. Think about it.

If you have proof about the competition a C&D letter from your lawyers is in order. It's criminal to post bogus reviews.

Try finding out the actual company doing the attach. If you can prove it's them, post your proof online and you'll have them calling and promising to stop in no time!

Firstly, do this.

Secondly, do a press release on your website and show it to every costumer/potential buyer that you are under attack for the moment and point them to the false reviews with links.

Thirdly, say that you are doing whatever is in your power to get rid of these fake reviews.
