Yes, you should file a Paypal dispute. Did you buy the guest post from him on BHW? If so, I would open a SL thread too.

What is your guest post about? Hunting and killing, or a hunting product review? He said in his blog post that he did not want the site because it was a hunting site and does not like killing animals. He is going to turn it into a hunting product review site instead. What he asked you to write about in the guest post will tell us his true intentions for the site.

Good for you OP!!! I am glad to hear that. This was a true scam and you prevailed. I hope his Paypal is banned. What a complete stroke of luck that your website sounded familiar to @v. and he was able to lead you to the buyer's blog. That was karma at work!

I nominate this thread to best bhw threads in 2020. Hands down.

More action here than in Michael Bay's movies.

Honestly, I was on the fence about the whole thing bc OP didn't reply to anything regarding the penalty, but on the seller's side he mentioned the traffic drop + penalty and still sold a guest post off the site.

They are both sketchy in this transaction, quite obvious they are trying to finesse each other out of the deal.

32k IG is only $400-500 valuation, a few hundred more might be possible - but not 2k.

This is so weird! How did you find Passive Journal's blog post? I am laughing so hard right now that someone tried to scam, and got caught by an unassuming bystander.

I think he intended to scam because:

    - He said on another BHW thread that he is not into Instagram and wanted to sell OP's "healthy" instagram, but has an active personal Instagram with 1k followers.
    - He said on his blog that he didn't want the hunting site because it was about killing, but sold a guest post on it.
    - He said on his blog that he didn't want the site because it was penalized, but sold a guest post on it.
    - He said on his blog that he was going to transform the site into a review site, but sold guest post on it.

He lied to OP, PayPal, the guy above who he sold a guest post to, his own readers, and it looks like he may not be telling the truth in this thread. I agree with you that it sounds like this "penalized" site is working just fine as he is actively using it. It might not be penalized at all.

This is all I need to know. You made a mistake and tried to scam your way out of it. You can't half-azz things then make other people make up for your lack of effort. You have a whole entire blog teaching people about Internet Marketing, yet you aren't doing your own due diligence? That undermines everything you have written on your blog. You failed at a major fundamental of IM. So how can you teach someone else?

Yes, OP should have told you about the penalty, if there really was one, but it's up to you to verify if what the seller said was true BEFORE you buy. Not AFTER!

May I also ask why you are using a "penalized" website to sell guest posts on?

Everything you said is correct. A seasoned Internet Marketer with his own "healthy" blog, full of active readers and comments, is trying to get us to believe he did not know what he was doing when he bought the website, but then bragged about the sale on his blog. I am so glad OP got all his money back. I don't feel that OP was the dishonest one here. The Google update and the Flippa sale look like they both happened in the same week, so some things probably didn't show up until after the sale. Those things are kind of out of OP's hands. PJ tried to scam and it blew up in his face. There is an old Proverb that says something like:

"If you set a trap for someone else, you will be the one to fall into it."

and that is what happened here. Even Paypal saw through the scheme. Lol.

    ETA:

    I found the Proverb:

"If you set a trap for others, you will get caught in it yourself. If you roll a boulder down on others, it will crush you instead."

Keep this in mind before you scam anyone.

Common man you throw party, gone money back in your pocket.

@Passive Journal was doing a case study for his blog. Also, he got enough exposure he wanted to.

Feedly, kinda glimpse through it once in awhile to catch up on things.

Still though OP faked quite a bit of stats but none of those make sense for the deal to go through if due diligence is done.

Lol! This thread took an interesting turn. I find it also highly ridiculous how this guy runs a personal blog with his real name etc. and fails so hard. So my recommendation: Just log out man, game over

Some things that bother me about this that people are ignoring is in the Flippa listing it states that the website was making $3500 annually. That breaks down to around $291 dollars a month. He uploaded "evidence" from Amazon affiliate of $142.36 for 3 months. That is a discrepancy of $730 dollars over those 3 months. Where is the rest of the revenue?

I am not taking sides here. I am just looking at facts. The buyer should have done more due diligence before purchasing.

All that being said, if I was looking into buying a website would I have bought from this seller? If I had, it would have been at close to $1,300 dollars. $147 / 3 = $47 dollars x a 28 multiplier or maybe even less because of the penalty. I see no proof for guest posts or Google Ad sense.

At the end of the day, the buyer made a mistake by agreeing to purchase this site for $4,000 dollars. That is on him.

I did learn that if I ever sell a site to always use escrow!

Clearly the matter has been resolved between the two parties involved. Only they can know all the details, and they appear to have sorted it out amicably. Case closed.

I am glad you guys worked it out. His guilty conscience is making him depressed. Not this thread, lol. He's lucky the mod's hands were tied, or he may have lost his BHW account.

You have some options to do.

If you have transferred your domain name try to contact your domain registrar and ask if they can reverse the transfer. If its not fully transferred they can cancel it, Even if its transferred and they cooperate they can ask the other registrar to pass domain back to them as the transfer was fraudulent.

In regards to flippa fee, Show them that the buyer has asked for a charge back, you can request a charge back from flippa for your lost fund as well if they didn't cooperate.

There is a high chance that paypal side with buyer, They usually decide in favor of buyer because if they burn the buyer he will not use PayPal in his lifetime, But they can screw the seller many times and the seller will still accept PayPal. I mean that's the only benefit of PayPal, You can buy everything with peace of mind, If the seller lied to you, You can easily get refund. Thats why people buy easier from you when you accept PayPal. ofcourse this will open doors to scammers and thieves but the pros is more than cons

Well, I have to say this thread has reaffirmed a couple of things:

    1. BHW members stick together - That's a great thing.
    2. Don't just talk the talk - Walk the Walk.
    3. Some things people do to each other is just bullshit - because they think they can get away with it. That sucks!
    4. Just because something is legally right, doesn't mean its morally or ethically right.
    5. Somebody is gonna try to get their way into the middle of it and make it about race, nationality, politics. Don't we get enough of that fake news shit elsewhere? Shut the fuck up about that stupid shit.

Glad BOTH sides got it worked out at this point.

Actually I take that back because of this:

Hey bro, thanks for the message. I know you just did this for some help and I think lack of English also caused the 'thought' that we might scam you which you know I wouldn't do.

Also, some of the forum members found 'great pride' in racial messages and 'finding our websites' where the seller knew about our websites from the first place, he also saw the first update and he told me too that he is interested to see how I recover the penalty.

Anyway, glad everything got sorted :) Happy to offer some laughs and excitement in the tensed world of EAT and Core Updates.

That would be the last comment....Cheers
