Nothing wrong with pointing links to https or any links loss with http --> https redirection.
I have a site ranking great with http, I redirected it to https --> it still ranking great, even better. (all links juice was pointed to http)
Google is smart enough to tell you are redirecting http -> https

Not much difference http and https. Used for https - some secure reason it would be made. Google consider for rank same only
if you make new domain try with https, or want to get expired one- search in http
