Had a Call from Microsoft!

Ok guys so today just now about 10 mins ago i go a call from Microsoft and some Indian guy was speaking really bad English :D
He said i got a really nastY bad huuuuge not virus but VIRUUUUUUUUUS ON MY registered windows pc. And told me to turn on pc right now so he can give me directions how to delete it :D So i went beside my pc and somtn happened to my phone and line broke up all the time. He called me about 10 times and afterwards he asked me what type pc it is who is using my pc and told me to press WINDOWS+R key afterward i dropped the phone and turned it of :D And went to internet and found article about microsoft scam but i cant post links all i can say go google and do serces WINDOWS+R and first will be it:D



Haha :D What do u thing guys and how they got my number? Is there a possibility on my pc is a malware or keyloger or sumtn? I am realy curios how how they got my phone number? My home phone number! If they got it there is a security breach, like if i would do some black hat FBI could find me in seconds if like some indian scamers found me

Odds are they're just calling a huge list of phone numbers, after all, how many people don't have a Windows PC?
Can't wait until I get one of these calls, going to be so much fun...
 
Its one of the oldest scams in the book. Stay on the line and he would have tried to sell you malware protector to get all that horrible stuff off your PC.

your home phone number is circulating on a list. Its not hard to come by. Basically any time your phone number has been handed out to a company that will probably be resold on as a lead to a marketing company. So by the third or fourth tier it reaches scammers who pay pennies per thousand leads.
 
I've heard of this happening to people in the past, it's not a huge threat.
 
Scam :) Like nigerian bank account story on emails.
 
I used to work for one of this kind of company... I was not a caller there... I was doing SEO for their tech website. They were doing same things... Calling people.. saying have virus on their systems... ANd honestly even they don't know if the person they are calling is having a computer or not... :P
 
I also got a call from Microsoft recently. However, that was a legit call.
Someone sent 30 EUR to my account by mistake.
They kept calling me until I answered and confirmed that they should refund it.

To know that it's really Microsoft who is calling they will always say some info from your account, such as your name, phone, email that are assigned to your account.
 
They are regular callers in the UK lately, I love it when they call - if I am bored I go along with it, asking stupid questions and stuff.
Longest I have kept one of them talking is 18 minutes and 14 seconds :D

Always ends in me telling them exactly what I think of them and their scam......amuses me anyway :)

I was told that they get paid per call and if they hang up they don't get paid for the call. Thats why I love making them hang on and winding them up so much they lose time and money.
 
I just googled this scam and read an article in which a guy lets you see the "technician " on Teamviewer get pissed off and then delete all of the users files in front of his eyes ! Luckily it was a useless machine anyway. The technician ( haha ) then rounded things off by deleting the ethernet driver and signed off with " Goodbye asshole ".

I get them all the time (UK), along with PPI claims etc.

Often tell them to F Off - last call the bloke told me to F Off also - how rude :)

Read these 2 posts again, because this is exactly what has happened to a neighbour of mines.... not once, but twice !!!
She was really upset at first, then I explained what it was all about, and she felt at ease afterwards.

Dont get stressed, and dont worry. It all good.

by the way, I also told her the same thing that I say to you now.....
"Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean that they are not out to get you" :)

Lol - my mum had one of these calls. She knows its crap, but gets sucked in a little bit, until she realises that its a scam, so she refuses to do what the guy is asking, then he says to her: "if you don't let me in to the computer ill turn it off FOREVER, and it willNEVER COME ON AGAIN"! Hilarious!
