If you're concerned about privacy and want to stay anonymous online using Windows, here’s a practical guide for staying as secure and private as possible.

---

1. OS Setup

A) Choosing the Right Version of Windows
- Use Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC (2021)
The LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) version of Windows 10 is stripped of unnecessary bloatware and telemetry, making it a better option for privacy-focused users.

B) Update & Install Drivers
- After installing the OS, update all drivers needed for your hardware, but ensure you are only downloading drivers from trusted sources (like the manufacturer’s website).

---

2. Firewall and Network Configuration

A) Using SimpleWall or TinyWall

These are lightweight firewall solutions that allow you to block outgoing traffic except for your trusted apps.
- SimpleWall: https://github.com/henrypp/simplewall
- TinyWall: https://github.com/pylorak/TinyWall
Configure it to block all traffic except for your browser (TOR) .

B) Tor Browser
- Use Tor Browser for private browsing. It helps you route your internet traffic through multiple nodes to anonymize your connection.
- Additionally, you can also use Breev as a secondary browser focused on privacy.

Important: Make sure to delete all history on exit to clear any residual data that might leak personal information.

C) Using Proxifier for App Traffic
- Proxifier: A tool that can route the traffic of apps to a Tor proxy. https://proxifier.com/
This means you can ensure that all your apps (not just browsers) are routed through Tor, maintaining anonymity.

3. Communication & Email

1) Email

- ProtonMail (Onion link): Create a secure, anonymous email on ProtonMail. [https://protonmailrmez3lotccipshtkleegetolb73fuirgj7r4o4vfu7ozyd.onion/] , [https://proton.me/mail]

2) Telegram
- Use a virtual number: Buy a number from services like https://virtualsim.net to activate Telegram without using your personal phone number.
- Make sure to use Tor for Telegram’s data routing.

3) Jabber / XMPP
- For private messaging, consider Jabber servers (e.g., [https://xmpp.jp]) with https://www.pidgin.im/as the client.
- This allows for decentralized, encrypted communication. Pidgin can also be configured to use Tor for additional anonymity.

4) Use Yopass for Sending PMs
- When sending private messages inside forums, consider using Yopass (https://yopass.se) to send self-destructive messages.
- This ensures your messages don’t remain in the server’s logs for long periods.

---

4. Account Security

A) Use Strong Passwords

- Passwords should be longer than 25 characters and should never be reused across accounts.
- Get familiar with KeePassXC for managing your passwords securely.
https://github.com/keepassxreboot/keepassxc

B) Avoid KYC Services
- KYC (Know Your Customer) services can compromise your privacy. Stay away from platforms that require it.
- You can check if a service asks for KYC using KYCNot.me.

C) SMS Activation Services
- If you need to activate accounts that require SMS, use services like SMSPVA. This helps you avoid revealing your personal phone number.
https://smspva.com/

---

5. Encryption

A) Full Disk Encryption

- VeraCrypt is an open-source disk encryption tool that lets you encrypt your entire hard drive or specific volumes.
Always use strong passwords for encryption to prevent unauthorized access.

---

6. Crypto & Financial Privacy

1) Avoid Online Wallets

- Do not use online wallets for cryptocurrencies as they might compromise your privacy.
- Use a local wallet like Electrum and route it through Tor to ensure all transactions are anonymous.

---

Final Thoughts

- Staying anonymous online requires a layered approach.
- Always use Tor when browsing or communicating.
- Use encrypted, anonymous services for everything, from email to messaging, to avoid exposing your personal information.
- Don't forget to regularly check your apps and tools for any potential vulnerabilities or leaks.

---

That's it for now!
If you found this useful or have any questions, let me know! If there’s enough interest, I’ll work on a part 2 with more advanced techniques and tools. Stay safe out there.

Thank you for this guide. If I want to stay anonymous? Maybe it's a good idea to buy a VPS from countries like Russia?

TL;DR

1. Uninstall WIndows
2. Install Linux distro (heck, even ubuntu...)
I had the same thought!

A foolproof guide to staying anonymous, with step one being - install Windows. :D Because nothing says "I'm incognito" quite like letting Microsoft track your every move!

Anonymous with windows doesn’t exist. Follow the suggestions in the replies.

Or even better. Use TAILS. Remove your harddisk from your pc. Install TAILS on a USB with write protection switch and take it everywhere where you go like Arjen Kamphuis did. Google if you don’t know who he is.

Thanks for your guide, once you're using Windows forget about something we call it anonymous

Actually it doesn't matter if you use Linux or Windows because it depends on which kind of hardware are you using. Have you ever heard of Intel Management Engine or the AMD Platform Security (PSP)?
So go ahead and be secure. You actually know when you failed is when you see a tail after you. And I have seen Tails fail and I have seen Tor failed. They see everything. It's just a matter of what exactly are you doing. First, don't be a hacktivist! Never be a hacktivist! If you want to be a hacktivist then use Windows with antivirus and you are secured, because international type of agencies will take care of you from then on and its better for them to see what you are doing all the time
