Got spammers? It's now time to fight back using SpamX!
***which is ironic since I am a spammer ;)

A simple script that automates the ultimate spammer payback! When a spammer posts a comment, the info is saved to the database. The system then auto-comments/spams their blog/URL and then sends you an e-mail notifying you.

You can also have this work across unlimited blogs or WP Multi-sites. Just setup the plugin on each site and insert the main "Collection Center" URL in the plugin's option area. This will then save all of the spam URL's to one database and .txt file.

This is how it works:

1. A spammers comments on your blog.
2. SpamX saves their data in the "Collection Center".
3. Auto spam-back is sent.
2. An e-mail is sent to you notifying you of the new update
5. A master .txt file containing all of the spam URL's is created and saved within the plugin folder

Here is a quick overview of how it works:

I created this for fun for you guys! ...at 3am last night/this morning. So if there are any bugs, don't get angry. Please kindly just let me know so that I may fix them and re-upload new versions.
********************

Known Issues/Bugs:

- The plugin script is pretty basic and I have not yet created any conditionals. So if there is another plugin or script in your WordPress setup that sends e-mails, you may experience a script conflict and/or e-mails not being sent.

- There is a known bug in the comment posting. At current, I have noticed that only about 25% of the comment-able sites and actually being commented upon and I am currently looking into the cause of this.

Configuration:

Configuration is easy.
1. Go to "Settings" > "SpamX"
2. Enter the location of your "collection.php" file (or Collection Center)
3. Example: http://yoursite.com/wp-content/plugins/SpamX/collection.php

The downloads section is STRICTLY for internet marketing
related items, such as PDF's with methods, SEO apps, etc.

SpamX is more along the lines of a website utility. Therefore,
I have moved this thread to the PHP & Pearl section, since
it is a non internet marketing PHP script.

Thank you to ExtremeSEO for sharing though. :)

hmm...seems no one appreciates this script huh?

it doesn't stop spam, but basically spams back the spammer.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to add, but instead of spamming the spammers back, why don't you take their url and check the backlinks.

From there you could test their backlinks for auto-approve, ideally with a post of something like "(spammers url) belongs to a spammer, and I see you have comment spam from them. Unless you wish to encourage them, I would suggest that you delete their comments immediately. Thank you and have a nice day".

That way you get free AA lists and maybe even get some of the spammers' backlinks deleted.

It actually already does that. It saves the sites in a .txt file within the plugin folder and sends you emails with the lists.

Unless I am completely missing something in the code, I do not think it already does what I am suggesting.

As you said, this is what it does...

1. A spammers comments on your blog.
2. SpamX saves their data in the "Collection Center".
3. Auto spam-back is sent.
2. An e-mail is sent to you notifying you of the new update
5. A master .txt file containing all of the spam URL's is created and saved within the plugin folder

What I am suggesting would be

1. A spammer comments on your blog
2. SpamX saves their data in the "Collection Center".
3. SpamX scrapes the backlinks from the site the spammer was promoting.
4. SpamX checks the list of backlinks for urls it can post to.
5. SpamX posts to the urls it can post to, preferably with a message detrimental to the spammer who originally spammed your blog.
6. SpamX checks the URLs it posted to to see if the posts were auto-approved.
7. An email is set to you with a list of all the auto-approve blogs SpamX found.
8. A .txt file containing all the spam URLs is created, a .txt file containing all the auto-approved URLs is created, and a .txt file containing all the URLs that SpamX tried to post to (auto approve or not) is created.

A different beast entirely, I think. And obviously a much different project than what you posted. But it seems to me that my version would cause the spammers much more grief (and you much more gain), than just spamming them back would. :D

Is it safe to use this or could you get in trouble whit for example google?

It is perfectly safe to use. Besides the comment backlinks that you are creating on the spammers website, Google is never involved.

Ah, i just thought that it was a webpage that sent out the comments/spam and it wasnt protected by proxies

But when you put it that way i do belive its safe :)

I think your ideas are great! I was thinking though, that not everyone that spams is a 'spammer'. Many of these people are 'newbies' that need someone to show them the ropes, so to speak. Ideally it would be great to obtain the spammer's email address so you can email them.

I know I have picked up customers, (and friends) by kindly replying to a spammer's email with email marketing safety tips!

Thanks for your ideas!

Thanks Extreme SEO for sharing this! I'm going to see if I can further develop it myself, (although I barely know what I'm doing, lol) but I'm anxious to see what further developments and ideas you come up with. :)

This is badass extremeseo your a beast man another great piece of work

this is hilarious!!!

What happens if 2 blogs with this plugin get into a loop?
Is there something to stop them or would they spam eachother to death?

I did not use the plugin yet, but it shouldn't be too difficult to use it this way. If it sends you the urls of the spammers you just collect them, put in scrapebox backlink checker, gather all the backlinks and run Fast Poster/Slow Poster to look for AA.

LOL...I never thought of that....I guess the bigger server would win ;)
