Google Update Targeting SAPE links?

down or not i'm sure every Noob is already moving on. Thus reducing the price for everyone else :)

People often ignore certain correlations when they're in panic mode.

Most people (not everyone) use SAPE links on sites that they don't care too much about because they understand the risks involved. In other words, they usually don't use it on their primary money maker.

Has it ever occurred that maybe these sites got hit because they are sites that people didn't care too much about and perhaps lower quality too? It's easy to jump and say that SAPE is responsible, but what about all the other factors?

I just ordered SAPE links for the first time on one of my churn and burn sites (it's got plenty of other reasons to get slapped, that's why its a churn and burn site). I don't have results for it yet because the links are still being processed, but what I noticed from this update is that most of my experimental sites got slapped while the sites I paid more attention to increased in rankings.

Now if I had used SAPE on all these experimental sites and they got slapped, I could also make the assumption that SAPE was responsible, but I would be so wrong.

If all your SAPE sites got slapped and your non SAPE sites didn't, it doesn't mean SAPE is responsible. It could, but it could also be because all these sites shared something else in common. (ex. all these sites could have had more aggressive link building in general, badly spun backlink content, low content, etc.)

Right coincidence does not necessarily mean correlation. Is it about links? YES! Is it about SAPE? NO!

The problem Google is having with SAPE is the same Yandex is already having for a long time. It's no network, it's thousands of independant real everyday websites, most of them totally legit and not made for SEO only, selling links. While they sell links, they link elsewhere, too. Not all those links are paid for, not all of them are for SEO purposes. So, penalizing all sites linked from a site in SAPE would basically mean huge collateral damage, probably more collateral damage than damage to those who actually bought links via SAPE.

People who think SAPE will be busted don't seem to know how it works, it's totally different from ALN, BMR, FBL or all the other typical public or private networks. It is NOT a network.

So, targeting a certain fraction of SAPE sites that can be clearly identified as sites made for SEO only is possible for sure, penalizing the sites linked from those specific sites as well, but I doubt any more general action against SAPE is possible.

This is what I think happened also. A lot of the SAPE sites lost their PR or got devalued. This is one of the biggest weaknesses of SAPE and its greatest attribute. While it will be impossible to ban all sites from SAPE, banning a lot of sites that are in the SAPE network is possible.

So let us say 30% of the SAPE sites got devalued. A new customer may end up getting links from these sites and they are basically paying for something that is worthless. SAPE is still good but google has more than likely crippled it.

I was 100% sure that any update which will come and punish some shitty websites which were using SAPE, will be considered as an anti-SAPE action. If you have enough experience in the field you would realize that banning a private network which is changing everyday it's not easy even for Google.

If you bought SAPE links to your 1 month old website which has 4 pages of content, you might be banned but there could be several other reasons:

a) Your website is simply not ok for some reason ( I had a project with 0 backlinking having 2k u.v/month, 2000 pages content+ and on 17th of Jan Google stopped sending me any traffic. I am still investigating the problem.)

b) You have too less or shitty content
c) You added too many backlinks to a young project
d) The links you added had the same anchor text or/and you didn't diversify the SAPE anchor text.

And many other reasons :)

That's right. The reason why it is called a network that's because of translation issue (from Russian to English). it would be better to call it Exchange (like stock exchange).
That's why when I saw that famous Matt Cutts' tweet I was sure he was not talking about Sape. or he just showed his lack of knowledge calling is a network

Correct.
lol he said... Will need to check the Russian link selling software...

I was actually hoping to use SAPE links on a website that doesn't receive its traffic from Google, and to use this as a money-making tool. Are websites that host SAPE links being penalised to the point that their domain/company name doesn't show up in the SERPs? Thats all I care about.

Some of the sites may be penalized. But who knows is the reason of their penalty is Sape. Let me show my example, I sell links on Sape from 10 sites. From these 10 sites only 1 was penalized, but it does show in SERPs and I still received some traffic from google to that site. But in general it dropped in rankings and dropped its PR from 3 to 0.

But the other 9 sites are not penalized and doing well. So my advice for you is to check manually the sites where you plan to get links. By doing this you'll filter only best sites for your linkbuilding.

According to this post, Google did target a link network and another round of attack will occur in the next week or two. It's Barry Schwartz again for those that care, but I did not see any reference to SAPE.

Matt Cutts confirmed that Google targeted a link network a couple weeks ago and said Google will go after more in 2013. In fact, Matt said that they will release another update in the next week or two that specifically targets another large link network.

The post also notes that a Panda update should be expected either Friday or Monday and a major Penguin update coming this year that has the potential to be one of Google's most talked about algo updates.

How can they judge if it's sape or not? Some of my sites selling links has been just banned - so I think that's a more general issue.

I had one site hammered and it had no sape links - just sayin

One of my sites got hit bad by this update - and I'm not using SAPE at all...

i used SAPE for one of my site and its still ranking well. so i don't think it was link network update

Sape Links are Now Over, According to Google 6th March 2013 Update...

What are you talking about lol? Please show me some proof of this rather than a one line shit remark with nothing to back it up, have you used the network, can you show me some of your sites that have dropped maybe or even anything? Because I can easily show you 100s of clients ranking data that tells me otherwise. Plus the countless people repeating through out this thread that its still working fine.

You're either using it and want others not to or just repeating shit you hear to make it look like you know something like the rest of the naysaying sheep, please stop wasting the disc space of BHW with silly posts. If it happens I'll know before a lot of you and I'd be the first to say it to our guys. All I see now is speculation followed by a herd of sheep, a random tweet from shit talker cutts, some misinformed articles on "popular" seo sites and a google refresh... am I missing something?

Let me actually show you some proof rather than chatter, this is my own site by the way its in the forex niche, small volume most of the keywords but extremely competitive as the CPA on the offer promoted on this site pays $275 per sign up, been making some nice monies with this site over the past week as it started ranking just recently, oh yeah sape links don't work?...
