Google Update Targeting SAPE links?

According to this guy, he has "sources" that confirmed SAPE was targeted.

He has been known to communicate directly with Google in the past, and I would not discount his comments because of that fact.

Are you serious? The guy didn't even know the correct URL of SAPE until someone pointed it out to him in the comments. He then goes on to say:

Black Hat World and Black Hat Group both seem convinced the reason for the downgrade in rankings in Google yesterday was due to having links from SAPE links.

So he is citing this highly inconclusive and mixed thread (and another completely empty thread lol) as "evidence" that SAPE is being targeted by Google and when called out on it in the comments his go-to defence is "I cannot reveal all my sources, I am sorry.". Really?

Seems to me like this "Barry Schwartz" is just a mouthpiece for Google's scare mongering tactics. Notice the exact timing of his 2 articles announcing Google is going after SAPE. There were no reports of this anywhere before he decided to chime with his "opinion" after a couple of days of SERPs shuffling by Google - which, mind you, seems to be largely affecting everyone. Ulterior motive much?

EDIT: spelling.

Just stating what I read. But it is true Google confides in him, on occasion, possibly to use him as the mouthpiece you referred to. We'll see if his comments are credible this time, especially with the unnamed sources he referred to. Regardless, he has been wrong in the past quite a few times and this could be yet another.

It is true that seroundtable is a legit site that does have links to google. It doesn't mean its correct but its not something to just ignore.

If SAPE was targeted, why have lots of sites bombed without any SAPE links? It's obvious bullshit... or they fucked up identifying SAPE sites.

I'll not get too involved with this thread as its a conflict of interest, I will say this much though we have close to 800 clients using sape, I have not seen nothing out of ordinary on their tracking. This is the usual one guy speculates something then all the sheep follow and cause mass panic, the hard evidence I see from my clients tells me otherwise.

I believe this is just a regular update google has churned out to be honest, I see nothing to suggest it was sape related.

I agree. Probably that guy just writes about topics which he thinks are trending - to post new content to his site. That's bad that many people follow such shit.
If he links to Sape he could sign up and make the link affiliate url)) That would be funier

Hi,

This update ain`t targeting just SAPE link or sites involved with them. I never used that network and I see huge dance on hourly basis for most of keywords. Also, there is something pretty weird going on as for one keyword I checked on google there is 5 pages of SAME content -for keyword which is generic. Cmon Google - 5 pages of same content, this is just silly of you.

Anyway, I think this is just temporary.

Glad I have not tried it on my site or any of my client's website.
But things not clear now if it was targetted to websites using SAPE links.

It will never be clear my friend. Google is not sitting there to save SEO.

All my site using SAPE lost between 20 and 60 spots yesterday :-/ Time to find something else I guess ...

Of course G has known about sape for years, and im sure smart ass Matt Cutts reads these threads. That's why he comes out in the 1st place and makes a statement like time to target russian links because its more popular now than before and he doesnt know what the hell to do about it.

Exactly. In my opinion, SAPE will be around for many more months to come before they actually do anything to devalue it.

And the ranks from my clients have gone up mostly so don't see any affects here. The sites that I've used SAPE on are still strong.

It is hard to trust the opinions of people in BHW sometimes. Way too many people in this forum sell stuff. A lot are selling SAPE links. Some are just lying that they got hit when they don't even use SAPE just to add fuel to the fire.

But I think it is safe to say that a lot of SAPE websites have been hit. Not all of them but a lot. So people that have links on these websites will suffer a big drop in serps while others will be safe. This is my safest conclusion that I got from this thread. SAPE has been crippled. It is still living but it has been crippled.

Many people use other black hat techniques in combination with sape so it's hard to tell if Sape is the reason. For me after reading all the thoughts and after checking some of my clients' campaign in sape I came to conclusion that it's not time to worry.

i really think that they should now consider to replace P with F.
SAFE links sounds more friendly to Google and their clients too :)

well i guess it's just an ordinary G's update.

All of my sites with sape are still rockin. I am pretty sure it was a panda refresh and I am still seeing flux and dance with most sites, but none of mine are dropping and I have many sites with sape links that have improved.
