Google releasing a large update today

yes traffic is keep declining , any way to stop it? keyword also keep dropping
Well, I keep on doing things as before, trying to post the best articles in my niche. Hopefully, things will change soon.

I noticed that some of you have seen some traffic improvements and, while I did see some stabilization in the keywords bleeding (on SemRush), my traffic is still decreasing. I am starting to think that this time it is the pandemic and not Google that's screwing up with our websites even more.

Today I'm seeing 20% drop, and the analytics graph is also little weird. There is no oscillations it's almost flat

For those who lost featured snippets, it may be related to the length of featured snippets. Either too long or too short or some other factors.

I think it's worth taking a look at it.

I picked on this idea from this YT video

Although I'm not a huge fan of her, I believe one can learn from everyone, people you like and dislike.

P.S. If you lost some traffic over the past couple of days (and target US market), as was mentioned above, it's a long 4th of July weekend in the US so it's normal and not related to G update. On Sunday or Monday, it should return to normal.

Well I hope good things happen this time, although Google has been working on something new and very interesting I was told by a friend who works at Google , so yeah let's wait and see what goodies they have this time.

If you could share more details that would be great.

60 percent of our traffic loss from may update is because we have lost all our featured snippets, I have checked in semrush and we have 0 featured snippets, anyone else having the same issue?

I noticed that on the first day of update that I lost all my featured snippets and moved to page 2.... plus I lost all my rich snippets and can't get them back. On top of that lost a lot of keywords.

I still have some featured snippets (where there is barely any competition) and it seems that it didn't took long for my competitors to realize that Google allows them to rank above me with my own content. It's nice to see that my hard work is appreciated and is now ranking first .. on another website of course.

Same - lost all snippets in 5 may update

Well, this is interesting. Did you do something to win snippets? I would write an answer with 40-50 words at the beginning of a post, bold it. Same as tables of content, I would optimize them for search.

Is this working?

From 2000 keywords I am now sitting on 300 keywords and those are dropping daily.

Ive fixed everything what i could.

Ahrefs site audit health score 100 %

Site speed: mobile 90 % - desktop 98 %

New backlinks from good sites through paid outreach

1 position Competitor site health score 93 %

Site speed mobile 15% - desktop 23 %

This guy is just killing it. He was there before the update and still is today.

The rest of the page 1 comp. Same shit.

Thats it for me. The last post on this thread as there isnt anything else i can do.. I will report back after 3 months to let you know if I ever recovered or not.

Cheers.

Thanks for sharing. This is helpful.

I add more words to one of my blog posts, from 800 words to 1400 words. Improved the keywords.
I got 4 guest posts from decent sites (high DA with real traffic) to link to this particular blog post.
A few days later, the ranking 13 jumped to 5. After 2 days, it dropped to 20+
Damn it.
At this moment, I'm not sure whether this is caused by my action or google algorithm .

So do we have any ideas yet?

I have another site that is acting strange to say the least. If anyone recalls a bit of chatter about an update at the beginning of February this site tanked, lost all SERPS for just about everything, couldn't be found for anything of note at all. At the time I expected it to quickly come back as it was an error but nothing returned. What was annoying, and strange, was it could be still found in other google geos, so for example '**** **** uk' is the main keyword and went from about page 3 in google UK to completely nowhere, but for the same phrase is Google Ireland and Canada (just 2 examples I checked, it carried on ranking around page 3 for months.
The site was pretty gone so many of the links I started changing to another site but did nothing. For the KW I mentioned sometimes the site was about on page 11 but that was it, all the other ones nowhere. Suddenly as the May core update rolled out shot back to page 5 for that and 7 for 'UK **** ****' and 9ish for '**** ****', nothing great but a start. It stuck like that for a couple of weeks with the usually little moves then bombed again, I think it must have been the start of June. Yesterday I noted it had came back for those KW's on page 5 and 7, what happens next is anyone's guess.
Like the other site I have been mentioning in this thread the big swings don't make sense apart from the sites must be triggering a filter that is either pushing the site down or total ignoring some ranking factor, what and why though I am non the wiser. I posted this on google webmaster forums as well for some more info https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/55524585?hl=en

I checked this morning and Semrush says that the keyword bleeding has stopped since 5-6 days and there is an upwards trend, although a very slow one for all the websites that I monitored (from the competition and my own). There is 0 difference in traffic for now, but things may actually start to improve, slowly, but surely.

For your reference, while the ranking improved for one main keyword. The traffic dropped significantly between page 1 and page 2 /3.
