Google just launched Search Generative AI performance reports inside Search Console.

What you'll be able to see:

• AI search impressions
• Which pages are showing up in AI answers
• Country-level data
• Device-level data
• Performance trends over time

A few important observations:

• The report is still rolling out, so not everyone has access yet.
• The headline metric is impressions, not clicks.
• Being cited in an AI answer doesn't automatically mean you'll get traffic.

For the last year, one of the biggest challenges with AI search was the lack of data. We knew pages were being referenced, but we couldn't measure it.

Now we can.

Even if AI impressions don’t always turn into clicks, at least we can finally see which pages are getting picked up.

I just saw this too, will check all my sites to know which has been featured or not.

I have noticed that AI impressions don’t always go to the newest or most detailed pages. Sometimes an older, simpler page gets picked because it answers one specific question clearly.
I have also cleaned up schema on some pages, using the right type instead of adding FAQpage everywhere. a few started showing in AI impressions after that, although it’s hard to say if schema was the reason.
also, AI impressions don’t always mean more clicks. Google may show enough of your answer that people don’t need to visit the site.

i have been thinking about this for a while because we actually need this and now its here, i will have to go and check it out.
