Google just launched Search Generative AI performance reports inside Search Console.
What you'll be able to see:
• AI search impressions
• Which pages are showing up in AI answers
• Country-level data
• Device-level data
• Performance trends over time
A few important observations:
• The report is still rolling out, so not everyone has access yet.
• The headline metric is impressions, not clicks.
• Being cited in an AI answer doesn't automatically mean you'll get traffic.
For the last year, one of the biggest challenges with AI search was the lack of data. We knew pages were being referenced, but we couldn't measure it.
Now we can.
