Google is Warning about Comment Spamming | Must Read

This is great for a few possible scenarios.

I can kill my competitors or my competitors will stop doing comment spam and I can outrank them :)

Or you could get hired to kill your competitors :)

You should pray that no one will do this to YOU, if you only can come up with this kind of scenarios.

Maybe they can set the value of a link through a comment to neutral but otherwise it's not possible to put a negative value on links made through comments. Just think how many people would spam their competitor's url?

If they did set the value to neutral and the majority of your links came from comments, it would look like Google had penalised you, even if they hadn't.

This would really suck if it really went into effect.

But if its just here to scare us, then it has given me a great idea on a new way to make some easy cash doing nothing. lol

Google never penalized my 100 sites for comment spam backlinks lol

one of my Prof. he was ex- SEO consultant for a big search engines, i mean he was behind some advisory board for developing algorithms those SE's, I talked to him about this issue, he says google can banned those websites in two years, but not sooner,

I am trying to talk to him everyday now, learn some stuff as a noob, but he is always busy!!! but i will post some inside scoops whenver I heard from him

LOL..this is a battle that cant be won.

If they really did this anybody could comment spam their competiters and have them delisted. At best they can make these type of backlinks not count.

yes thats what i heard as well, he said, only way google can battle is de counts all the backlinks coming from comments sections, but its going to take some time means people going to make some money

Where in the article did they say they'll penalize sites that spam comments for backlinks? They're warning sites, particularly blogs that allow such spams as it MAY or may not affect their ranking. So there is no way you can do this to your competitors to get them deindexed or penalized unless they themselves are allowing such spams in their site.

Did i read it wrongly?

I think they can't penalize the sites but they will reconsider link juice for "comment section"

This is nothing new as far as Google giving warnings in regards to backlinking promotions.

I use comment spam all the time and have not seen any problems. If you're doing your comments like that lame example they used in their post, well then I think your site deserves to be penalized because that is about as lazy and obvious as it gets.

Just like any other type of backlinking, you need to do it properly. If you are doing it properly, then you have nothing to worry about.

If google anti comment spam algorithm is so good than why does google call out to website owners to;

Disallow anonymous posting.
Use CAPTCHAs and other methods to prevent automated comment spamming.
Turn on comment moderation.
Use the "nofollow" attribute for links in the comment field.
Disallow hyperlinks in comments.
Block comment pages using robots.txt or meta tags

Because the algorithms aren't that good...

I thought Google was going to be a pain when I discovered it 10 years ago. I don't know who let them basically control the entire net, but I miss my Overture.

all it means is devaluing the links a little

otherwise you could just comment spam a compeitor all over the web and fuck the up, google has always said its worse linking out to spammy sites than getting linked to by them

My Honest assessment's on this is nothing will be done. Because people will spamm forums using their competitor's links and we all know what will happen from there. Basically i think this is google trying to scare people into stop doing it but in reality there is to many cons for them actually penalizing links. To many uncertainties IMO

Then what stop me to take my other competitors site put then all toghther and start spam comment until they go down from google and i become 1'st ?

This is just a attempt to scare people, mostly whitehats who venture in commenting for backlinks.

Just look at "buy viagra", still spammy as ever. lol

i am thinking will seo lead to closure of all door of backlinks. A lot of happen overtime for various sources like

bookmarking - mostly nofollow
comment spam - nofollow + devalued (now)
web 2.0 - becoming nofollow aka wetpaint or hubpages

where will we get our backlinks from now on?

1000000000000000000000000000000000 sites available for your backlinks ;) you have to research a little bit.

Ok Google aint that stupid... If links gave negative value there would be 10* the Spam..as you would get unrestrained spamming of competitors..

Isnt it likely though that Google will start devalueing multiple links from the same page..So a post with a few posts with links would rank well but one with 50-100 ( prob Spam) links would rank bad ?

It kind of makes sense to devide the Google value of the page by the number of links and distribute the Juice that way.
