Going to Iceland, Any Suggestions?

Man, I am jealous, can't wait to go to Iceland myself!

One that's on my list that I didn't see on yours is https://insidethevolcano.com/. Basically its a lift and they lower you into an old volcano for a few hours to explore.

That looks awesome! I was all for it until I saw it was about $400 a person for 40 minutes inside the volcano. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

You need to try Hákarl when you go, its the best food ever.

I'm apprehensive. That's the rotting shark right?

Lol. Maybe its my Australianess, but thats a car for soccer mums, not going offroad

Aw man Subaru's are awesome. They're everywhere around here in the US.

Blue Lagoon is probably the best place to visit in Iceland, as well as the nature itself. The waterfalls are amazing

What about Landmannalaugar?

We have a whole day set aside for Landmannalaugar. We are hiking at both Bláhnjúkur and Ljótipollur Lake. And Blue Lagoon is a most definitely. Saved for our last day, though.

Yes its the rotten shark.

Ah fuck it, I'll probably give it a shot.

Also, it turns out we are going to be within walking distance of this awesome thing one of our nights: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grj%C3%B3tagj%C3%A1

Bet it's going to smell very sulphur-y, but hey that's part of the charm.

Go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyjafjallaj%C3%B6kull. Good warm place.

That's awesome! Looks like it's close to Vik. I'll make sure to add this to the list. Thanks!

Alright, I've got the itinerary finalized with the assistance of some tips in this thread. Trip starts in two weeks!

I was disappointed to find out that the day we set aside for Landmannalaugar was a bust. The road into that area is typically impassable due to snow until June.

Luckily I checked the road conditions and such last week and not when we were already there. Vik seems nice, but a full day of not knowing what to do there would have been a real bummer.

So, several things have been changed and added. This is how we are looking:

DAY 1 - DISOBEYING TLC
Urridafoss
Seljalandsfoss
Gljufrafoss
Skogafoss
Kvernufoss

DAY 2 - THE VIK COAST

Skeiðará Bridge Monument
Skaftafell
Svartifoss
Jökulsárlón - Glacier Lagoon
Hofn

DAY 3 - MORE CHASING WATERFALLS

Lækjavik coastline
Djúpivogur
Eggin i Gledivik
Hengifoss
Litlanesfoss
Gufufoss
Dettifoss
Viti Crater
Myvatn Nature Baths

DAY 4 - THROUGH THE NORTH

Grjotagja
Dimmuborgir
Góðafoss
Ljósavatn
Akureyri
Akureyrarkirkja
Ketubjorg
Kálfshamarsvík Lighthouse
Blönduós

DAY 5 - THE PACKED DAY

Vatnasafnið (Library of Water)
Helgafell
Berserkjahraun
Kirkjufellsfoss
Kirkjufell
Búðakirkja
Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge
Snæfellsjökull
Vatnshellir Cave Tour

DAY 6 - GOLDEN CIRCLE

Akranes
Old Harbour in Reykjavik
Puffin Express Tour
Þingvellir National Park
Rift Valley
Strokkur/Geysir
Gulfoss Falls
Kerið Crater Lake

DAY 7 - THE LAST DAY

Cathedral of Christ the King
Harpa Concert Hall
Solfar (Sun Voyager) Sculpture
Hallgrímskirkja
Baejarins Beztu Pylsur
Thufa
Seltjarnarneskirkja
Grotta Island Lighthouse
Blue Lagoon
Lava Restaurant

You need to check out some geysirs in Strokkur, take waterproofs and a waterproof phone case to get a quality video of a huge cloud of rain dropping on you. Also this may seem odd but KFC is amazing in Iceland - they look after their chickens, it must be the most natural KFC in the world. Loads of quirky diners around too.
