You like to plan out things carefully, aren't you? That's a reeeally huge list for 8 days. Hell yeah I'm going to Stockholm in a few weeks and I didn't plan anything yet.

Sadly can't add anything yet, but planning to go to Iceland soon to. If you've been there you might update this thread with the places you liked the most :)

    Go see the band KYN.

I've done business with them and they are good guys... no idea about their music but being good guys they deserve some support.

Oh yeah man, I like to maximize effectiveness while minimizing stress. Hit 4-5 things each day, nonstop adventure, but still plenty of downtime. Did that last summer with San Francisco/Yosemite/Seattle in a week, and we did SO MUCH STUFF.

Just sent 'em an email to see if they are performing any shows on our route. Thanks for the suggestion!

I spent 5 days in Hanoi and 5 days in Bangkok but my list of places to go to is like only 1/4 of yours. Wow, how the heck did you pull that list off? Scraped it using a tool? :p

Sounds quite nice, I'll plan my activities 1-2 weeks before the trip begins ^^ Are you hitting sports events too if there are any at the time you travel? I love to attend soccer games when traveling with my gf :)

No scraping, just reading a bunch of people's experiences haha. Iceland has something called the Ring Road that is basically a big circle around the whole place. We wanted to do that, plus extra time for the Golden Circle and a day for the volcano hike. I just checked driving times and distances and estimated time spent at each place.

Haha we are definitely not going for grocery stores. Or pickups. I don't think my wife would be cool with that.

Brah Scandinavia/Iceland is where the concept of "trolls" first came about 1,000+ years ago. No joke. Look it up.

Nah, fuck sports. That shit's gross. The closest thing would be the Mighty Ducks monument.

IMO, you should select just few places and enjoy those. The point of holiday should be to relax and enjoy life. What's a point in running here and there. Just my point of view. Have fun! :)

I studied 2 years Skandinavistik (Scandinavian studies). Know a few guys who are exchange students in Iceland, gonna ask them about some must-go places (if something on your list is missing I will post it here). All I know is : the nature is stunning (typical for nordic countries), weird language (I've studied Norwegian and Swedish, it's a little bit similar to these languages, but unique at the same time), most ppl are friendly, they love BBQ :D go visit Skogafoss with a tripod and take some stunning photos of it, Myvatn Nature Baths are also great, Hornstrandir is a must must go, ppl will make you try Kæstur hákarl (never tried it, sound a little bit gross, but maybe tastes different :D ).

Avoid the blue lagoon if you're travelling around the country. Its expensive and full of sweaty tourists. It doesn't live up to the photo at all. In the capital, the municipal swimming baths are far better if you want thermally heated water.

There are other natural springs that are far better to the north near Akureyri (there is a volcanic ring to the north west that has one just like the blue lagoon, except it is empty of people - http://www.myvatnnaturebaths.is/). Also try out village baths as a cultural experience.

Get a good 4x4 with studs in the tyres. The ring road will be covered in snow at this time of year.

    Eat smoked puffin. Its good.

That looks terrifying. I do need to watch the movie though.

Oh trust me if I did that I would lose my mind. I can relax plenty at home. I want to see the world!

Blue Lagoon? We are going to that on our last full day. Halfway through we are going to the Myvatn Nature Baths, which is very similar but nowhere near as crowded.

Haha I've heard Icelandic people are some of the happiest overall people on earth.

Skogafoss is a definite. I think we are hitting almost every large waterfall in the country except for Haifoss and Glymur... although we may squeeze Haifoss in on the Ring Road day.

Myvatn Nature Baths we are doing, and plan to stay in some cabins right on the lake. We are hoping we can see the Northern Lights that night, even though there won't be much night-time.

Hornstrandir, I totally forgot about. We will be close to that. May have th squeeze it in.

And fuck rotting shark. Although I do plan on trying plenty of new foods.

Okay, I may try the shark,

    Thanks for the tips!

Alrready dropped $200 on two tickets to BL, and probably another $200 on the restaurant. Bah. We are doing Myvatn and Sundlaugin á Hofsósi as well though.

We have a Subaru Forester rented already. Super psyched to do some off roading.

Smoked puffin sounds good. I'll give it a shot. Probably the same day we do puffin-watching too, since I roll with the go-hards.

    Thanks for the tips!

    Not the same place, homie.

Haha isn't that just a shrimp platter? We've got those in America :)
