Godaddy Is Scamming Us?

Just about 3 hours ago, I purchased a domain name using coupon and got mail for the confirmation of order, but did not received any mail for account verification, and after 15 minutes of order, received an email stating that your account is locked for security purpose and you will need to upload an government issued photo identification in 48 hours or we will cancel your order, Just curious about this unusual error as my domain was estimation 1200 USD as per their algorithm, but it was more valuable for as this is an branded domain.

I really think that they are scamming us, please do let me know how can I unlock my domain.

PS: already spoke with chat support they are just useless and kept me waited for more than 55 minutes.

Help please

Why would a company like GoDaddy scam you?
Just talk to their support center, they'll figure it out.

I really don't think that they are scamming you - maybe something happened which led them to believe the account is not credible and that's why they are asking for a photo verification. Try to call them and sort it out with them.

Please. Godaddy has a stupid policy and habit of doing this over the years. I once bought a huge KW domain name, and they locked the account and domain for one year straight. Those guys truly makes blogging a big harder for newbies.

Go-Daddy are a nightmare at times, great when people start out in IM and grab the 99c domains.

Just grow up son, we come here for solutions not for spamming, it was a general question it happened to me for the first time and this is the only best place, I can really trust their suggestions

I don't think they are scamming you but their system as well as their customer support is bullshit. Namecheap on the other hand has always been worry free for me personally. You might be saving some $ buying from godaddy but ultimately, you will be pulling your hair out when you have a problem with them. Just don't be their customer.. simple!

i think its not scam. maybe they think something suspicious and asked ur id, they will not ruin the reputation they build for $1200 domain worth

Just yesterday i wanted to grab some domains that were on auction, ended up talking with their support for more than 3 hours because i was unable to pay for a simple charge of 5$ yearly fee to access the auctions.
They have a strange and difficult system for sure but are far from a "scam".

If it's a first purchase and you have done it via prepaid card they often ask the verification. Just upload the document and you will be good to go. It's normal standard security procedures companies takes when system identify something suspicious.

Was just curious, cause some godaddy deleted my friend active blog domain with out any reason and the domain cost was above 2000 USD

its the general protocol, if we need help, we first go to their support no matter how hard and frustrating people they are, pardon me if my quote harmed your ego

Yes this was my first purchase, and will try to resolve it as soon as possible.
