It's not about the ranking, but the brand ability aspect of the domain. I'm sure there is one smart domain that is available and I'll feel stupid for not registering it...
Most internet users are familiar with .com. If .ooo was a bit cheaper I'd buy some, but 25$ per dam is pricey IMO. I can get .xyz, .download, and many other extensions that are good for marketing.
Either way it's a nice find I guess because some really nice names are still not taken.
