Ok, since some of you are obviously mentally retarded, and can't read up on basic information, google has a built in account on every mainstream forum software (PHPBB SMF vBulletin), that's why if you go to a busy forum, and look at the "active users" list you'll see 2-3 google bots crawling that page pretty much 24/7, I assure you google isn't doing it for fun.

I am a newbie but I have noticed what you mentioned above. I have an offtopic question. If I do not want the bots from following, what should I do? I have heard about no-follow, but am not sure if it can be implements in forums, and if, how. Thanks in advance.

you would have to rewrite the robots.txt file or disable the bots accounts in your ACP, hope that helps.

Care to elaborate?

Sure, thanks,

We all know here on BHW that forums are an important part of the link building process. There are many forums that you can join, you can buy lists or you can find them yourself. But as with any link building campaign the success is based on the formula quality x quantity x Patience = Success. Instead of worrying about how this one type of link will affect your goal. Do the following. Join a dozen forums from reputable sites related to your topic and make a contribution to the community. If you spend a little time once a week posting, after a month you will have over 100 great backlinks. Ergo... (yes i said ergo) one backlink does nada, many backlinks are great!

Till next time, ciao

This link was literally one of the top links on another post by another member who posted 10,000 forum backlinks. Not sure if the OP is trying to get thanks for someone elses work or if it's a coincidence but i thought i'd just point that out.

We are going to get to the stage where no-one will post anything if you all keep up the ingratitude. If you can't just say something nice then say nothing when someone posts something you are not inclined to use! Others will use the tips and be gracious in thanks.

I would go easy on the OP if he wasn't actively asking to be thanked for his offering.

These threads keep coming up - claims of PR 7, 8 or even PR9 links and then it turns out to be just another profile link.

The fact that it can't even be indexed in this case is the icing on the cake.

PR of the home domain is a rough indicator of domain authority in most cases. Therefore, getting a link anywhere on that domain is worth it if it's PR7 or more because of the possibility of a domain-wide authority effect.

However, next time someone shares one of these things, please call it something like "High authority backlink" rather than "High PR backlink".

It's not high PR - it's PR n/a and will remain so unless further work is done.

These small profile links on authority sites are nice to have and worthwhile, but they are not even in the same league as getting a link on a page which actually has PR 7, 8 or 9.

lol. i actully knew it was going to be smth like this when i opened the thread)

It was easy 2 min work but my account is already banned in 2 hours. So it is of no use.

This has summed it up perfectly, this is no different to using a web 2.0 property that has a PR of 8, creating a blog on it, sticking your link in and expecting it to be a PR8 backlink.

It isn't, plain and simple, but like Micallef says it is high authority and carries some weight, which is the exact reason people commonly use web 2.0 properties in their linking structures.

Funny how people giving away thanks soon to find out they thanked for nothing

I was to rough for ]\/[â„¢ so I apologize for hes lack of knowledge and for being a DP user, he doesn't know that google can't see an non existing link

well atleast he is sharing stuff thanks for that, keep it up :)

Honestly I have to disagree with this one. While I do think some of the posts were a bit harsh, the OP did react fairly aggressively which brought some of that on. Add to that the fact that he was wrong only makes it worse. He pulled that info about Google having accounts on Authority Forums out of thin air.

The problem though of not saying anything is the newbies will come to the forum find a thread like this and waste their time building links that do not do them any good if nobody calls out the stuff that is not worth doing. Is a profile link on a PR8 site worth doing? Yes it is as a general rule, but in this case (and others) the profile is not visible so it does not do you any good. Now any newbie that read this thread will know if the profile can not be seen then it is not going to do you any good so do not waste your time.

why do you keep bumping this even though you've been proven wrong ?

I have used the Joomla forum for links for several years. The key is not to spam, you will get banned quickly.
