So I see a lot of talk about this feature with regards to people
using it to work on local business accounts they are running
and generating them more sales, etc.
I briefly trialed it with no success as I used a lot of keywords
in the "solar" niche and located a few cities.
It appeared maybe that the keywords were not great as it was
targeting accounts that I could see would have no interest in solar.

Should I just target the city and not bother with keywords to get a much bigger market of people. Obviously there will be a lot of uninterested people but I should at least get some interest.

My goal here is to setup appointments as I work as a solar rep.

Sidenote: If someone is skilled at this then take it from a solar rep, there is a tonne of money to be made in lead gen for these companies. They typically pay around $250 to get into the door of a qualified homeowner when all is said and done.

I would really appreciate any help on the tool "geo location" in jarvee as I have not used it before and do not see much online about it.

Thank you

geo location with keywords is hard. ISG does not provide the functionality.

There are two ways

1) Get explore location urls from here
https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/

scrape those to get people located in an area.

Then filter the posts on keywords.

WARNING you are going to ignore a lot of results, and churn through the results. You need to share these requests over multiple accounts to avoid blocks

2) Search for keywords, then filter images by location / the user by location if exist (only on business accounts). Same warning as above.

To do this via the API, you will need many accounts to do some serious scraping. Another option is to scrape via the website, as you can scrape the website without being logged in, so you can just crawl through the data and just throw proxies at it then process the big data

What do you mean by this? Specifically the first part "you are going to ignore a lot of results"?

Sorry I wasn't clear.

If you want results that have #hastag_a and location_a. You can either search for #hashtag_a then ignore all results that are not from location_a. Or you can search location_a and ignore all posts that don't include #hashtag_a

ISG does NOT allow you to search location and hashtag at same time. So you have to search one, then filter.

Depending on your inputs, you will be ignoring lots of results (that fail the filter)

i.e.
you search: #baseball
you location filter: new york

some images posted with #baseball will be in new york, many won't. That ones not located in new york are ignored

or you could location search for new york stadium and ignore all posts without tag #baseball. Now this hashtag is probably going to have a high hit rate, so you won't ignore *that* many. But if your hashtag filter was #cats, then you will be ignoring lots more results.

Most of the Jarvee targeting options are crap aswell as other bots.. thats the reality, no matter what you try you will still get tons of non interested, trash followers that like your post 1 time and never again.

OP- not being rude but do you seriously think anyone on Instagram is looking for solar panels? Best bet is probably facebook.

I do think they are because I sit with a lot of homeowners and a surprising number of them said they clicked an ad on instagram.
This is what peaked my interest into this idea in the first place.
you'd be surprised.
