Hi,

Hope you are all fine. So I have been making games for some time, but I am really bad at marketing, and actually afraid that after my games being uploaded at google play store, wont catch any attention, even though they are high quality, and I watched some videos where some one did 30bucks ads spend and made back only 1.5 buck.

So any of you experienced at android apps, :)anroid games, android store ratings, ranking system, making passive income with these sort of apps, like to share there white hat methods(press release, reddit marketing, youtube marketings, google ads/ other ads) or black hat methods (review exchange, fake reviews, reivews bought service) any one want to share anything, they are welcome to make this thread some one guidelines for people coming looking to learn apps marketing and so.

You are welcome to post your apps experience, journey and methods that works best for you.

Good luck :)

I'm also interested in this, but I think the few people who know the secrets are not willing to share them.

Btw, what engine do you use? It would be good if you can post some screenshots of your games here and we can give you an honest opinion

Lovely project...What language did you use to build your games, am interested to know

I use unity, mostly.
But my games are of this quality, again these games are mostly using plugins so even though they are polished they probably wont catch much attention as better games are already on store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.EG.JKR2But still these games are getting alot of plays even though they are not amazing, whats the trick?

Yes, Unity is a good and pretty easy engine, I think most of us use it.
The game from that link seems to be like a GTA clone, that's a complex game if you make games like that I don't see why you would not have lots of downloads, it's not easy to make a game like that.

Yeah unity is easy. Yes games are bit technical, especially GTA like, but that's some great ranking result, do you had experience of app store ?
I checked this video, that had me really thinking what kind of butcher market is out there, giving no love to some games at all or what might be they doing wrong.Because taking months for making games and then getting to know android store is fucked up is not pretty good feeling especially considering you have to earn something.

I have more than 4 years of experience in game dev and google play but still, I don't have great results on my games

I agree with all my heart, it's not fair at all.

Exactly! I worked the most a year on a game and I made no downloads on it! I was so mad that I deleted the game from the play store after few days lol. I also know guys that download free graphics assets from the internet and use online software like quickappninja, so they just give some clicks and already they have the game without work and they make lots of downloads. meanwhile, people like us work for months, put in lots of work and passion for nothing.

You can find more marketing tips on Youtube, e.g. I bookmarked this video before:

etc, you can find a ton of.

And you are right, 50% gameplay + 50% marketing = success, there competition is very severe, so at the end of day, if your apps are not popular, just get along with it, and make more, its very common these days.

Did you only published on google play store and no other store like xiami store, mi store, amazon, facbeook?

Competition is very tight these days. You're lucky if you can find someone willing to share their methods

Yeah I have worked with some big names, and there methods were white hat but there earning with my games was pretty low to be honest. XD
@julieS ceasor do you render your icons in blender for games ? Or take screenshots with unity HDRP or something.

SDK platform for your purpose.I think it can help you

I tried once to make 1 app ( it's not a game) it was more like a webview app. Yes as you said even if you make high quality games but then who's going to play them if you don't spend some money to market it. That's why you find shitty apps but they make a lot of money.

I think you should not rely to monetize your app with only ads because that won't get you any instant ROI after you spend money on google ads. Basically, the people who spend money on ads ,they don't aim for positive ROI but they aim for returning users and for that your game should be addictive with levels etc. If you want instant ROI , you probably should try to find some influencer on IG that you are going to pay to publish a post about your app. However, for google ads to maximize your earnings it's better to put a reward system (like CPA offers).

Thanks for your advice. I agree with addictive point. IG influencers are not cheap either, but do you have some in mind to which I can land my game too?
