    Hey everybody,

so I decided to take a break from my commercial programming projects and fuck around with Python a little (OOP done right by the way <3 Python!). Drop me some ideas (nothing too fancy... don't expect to see a free scrapebox clone) and I'll share the finished .py file (or maybe a compiled .exe) for free here.

    Webscraping, email extraction, automation, whatever...

Looking forward to working on some stuff!

    Cheers

Hmm... sounds interesting! Do you mean a certain onpage keyword?
So you basically just paste in a bunch of URLs (or use a search engine to scrape links based on a couple of keywords), then the app pulls those URLs and saves them in .html format if a certain onpage keyword is present?

    Am I getting you right?

yeah basically you would sign in , click a button and it would add 100s of random twitter users then go back the next day and another few 100 and so on, what do think?

    Automatic free proxy checker.

Download lists of proxies and then check if they are high elite proxies. There are many websites that measure your proxy quality.

Also, figure out what country they are in.

Sorry bout the delay guys... Had a ton of shit to do...

Anyhow, twitter followers scraper can be downloaded over here:
    http://pastebin.com/sX9Wr95c

Limitations and problems are described in the file, so have a look at that.
Also, you will need to install Python as well as the simplejson lib (I've provided a link
in the comments). Once you have Python installed, just copy paste the code into notepad and save as whatevername.py.

Double click on .py file and you are good to go!

Will be working on the proxy checker this week, thanks for the idea johndea!

    Cheers

    Great post!

Can I ask if you have any recommendations towards Python IDEs? I've never coded in Python before, but a couple of weeks back had a look around and found some awesome libraries, so really want to give it a go and this is a fantastic start!

    Hey mate,

    thanks for the input!
Regarding IDE's, I personally use notepad++ (yeah I know, not a real IDE, but it works for me), however recommending one is fairly hard... Really depends on what you are looking for. VIM is a decent choice, very productive once you get the hang of it, can be somewhat hard to figure out though...

I'd defo recommend eclipse with the open-source PyDev plugin (can be downloaded here eclipse: http://www.eclipse.org/ and the plugin: http://pydev.org/) as well as pycharm (http://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/), both pretty solid IDEs. IDEs are obviously very important, but I'd advise you to really familiarize yourself with Python's shell first. Just play around with it a little. Learn the command line arguments and so on, it'll help you in the long rung. Anyhow, in regards to IDEs, those two are very good choices.

And yeah, you are right, Python does have some pretty awesome libraries. It's THE prototyping language! 10-20 lines of code is all it takes with Python. If you are interested in webscraping and similar stuff be sure to check out the scraperwiki (scraperwiki.com) project, a very comprehensive scraping resource (plus, you really can't go wrong with all the python code that is available over there).

Hit me up if you need any help.

    Cheers
