Acctually links from Medium, Weebly, Webflow, Linkedin articles help alot. My site is not that small, it's DR 60 and a million organic traffic.
 
IMO they work only as foundational links, when you are starting a new site for example. They do not give your website any authority though.
 
Yes it works but not like it did before.
 
Yes, we can use them for secondary keywords. But for main keywords you need some strong backlinks.

They still work but don't deliver a lot of "juice". So it would be ok if you wanted to diversify your backlink sources.

I see that doing it in large quantities is still effective, but the reputation of the platform you go to must be high, and it needs to be indexed. I see that there are tools on the market that solve this very well at low cost, you should try it.
 
Many persons said they won't work. Now think about your house building. You can't build a strong house without foundation. So as you said Web 2 0 forum PDF all works as foundation backlinks. It's called foundation links. So it's won't give you 80/90% effect but they effect nicely when you start to build.
 
I had bad luck and most of the baclinks did not worked I can't complain there were free, but real question is did they helped, yes they did it really make a big difference no, will I do it again no unless I'm desperate, this is my personal experience and opinion.
 
When it comes to back links, I follow the rule of thumb of Brian Dean from Backlinko.

He said that the easier it is for you to get a backlink, the more worthless that backlink is.

I stand by that idea.

If you can come up with a quick and easy free backlink, what's stopping your competitors?

What's stopping everybody else from getting backlinks for all sorts of crappy sites.

And pretty soon, Google gets sick and tired of giving weight to all these links and basically deprecates its value across the board.


Instead of looking for free backlinks and wasting time that way, use your precious time to look for backlinks that are hard to get.

I'm talking about editorial links.

I'm talking about links that are given to you by legit media outlets.

I'm talking about high-quality press releases.

No, I'm not talking about SPAM press release link garbage.

If you are doing it in the right and safe way yes, it's still works in the long term. Doing it just sake of backlinks then it won't gives result in long term. Every type of backlink should be created by their nature. For example if you are creating web profiles, then be active for some time on those sites. If you just register the account and add the link in profile and do nothing then it probably don't work. Hope you understand.
 
For the amount of time you spend setting up a profile on most automated SEO software and running it, you would be better off spending that time creating a couple of half decent articles with AI and then posting them on the personal blogging type websites.

Last week, for example, I posted an article that I spent about 20-30 minutes "writing" with AI and then another 20 mins making some images for it and posting to medium.com. It now ranks #1 for "[PRODUCT NAME] Review 2024" with no backlinks pointing at it.

That is less than an hours work for a top ranking article that is promoting the product and providing a link back. I'd take that over a bunch of unrelated spam links any day of the week.
 
These tactics can provide value for tier 2 backlinks and diversity, but in highly competitive niches like clothing, prioritize high-quality, relevant backlinks for better keyword ranking.
