Flipping to $3k

There are a few things that I am looking into today:

• Custom painted shoes
• Etsy
• Getting a job at seasonal Halloween store and working for 40+ hours for 2 months. (That would be $3000+ right there)

For the custom painted shoes, through some Facebook ad spying I found a really interesting custom painted shoe that received a huge amount of engagement. I'm talking 1,000,000+ likes. So I am going to replicate this pair of shoes and put a twist on the marketing side of things. I already bought painting supplies ($15) and am going to be buying a pair of white canvas shoes on Amazon for $60. If I am unable to resell these shoes online, I have an exit plan in place. I have already confirmed with my sister that she would be willing to buy these from me for $65, so I would just be out $10 for the supplies.

Another interesting thing I am going to look into is selling on Etsy. I ran a Shopify eCommerce store 8 months ago that did over $10,000 in revenue. Only problem is that the expenses were $10,001. Great thing is that to ensure quality of the products I was selling, I ordered a sample of each. So now I have 10 different niche-specific jewelry items that I am going to take sexy pictures of, put them up on Etsy, and see what sells. If any of them sell, I will order those in bulk from China. (The hint is the sexy pictures. I can take a picture that turns a $2.50 pair of wholesale earrings into a $24.97 pair)

Third, I am sure that a few of you are familiar with Spirit Halloween. It's probably one of the trashiest stores, and it's only open for a couple months out of the year. From what I read online, this place is a blast to work at. I can get an insane volume of hours in the next couple months. It's going to be busy, and in combination with my online arbitrage, school, gym, and my social life, I'll be surviving on just a few hours of sleep each night. But I know that it will be more than worth it.

One more thing that I just realized.. my family inherited about 10 tubs of costume jewelry from my grandma a few years ago. I'm talking 100+ pounds of it. There are some great things in here as well, like a copper bracelet that sells for $20+ on eBay. I am going to figure out a what cut I can have from my parents for selling these items.

Update:

Sold another pair of jeans today for $29.94 total, shipping costs an estimated $6, and so total earnings are around $23 after fees.

Sold 2 pairs so fair, which has given me enough money to buy around 5 more in the coming days.

Once I start scaling up, things will start selling much more often. It has been 7 days since I've started, and so that is about one sale every 3.5 days with 10 pairs on eBay. Assuming that those numbers stay pretty consistent, that would mean 10 sales every 3.5 days with 100 pairs listed.

No traction currently on Etsy, so I am going to copy the listings verbatim over to eBay and put my Etsy account on pause for now.

(Been thinking about starting a small longer term SEO project, with my sights on even $10-$20 per day of profit as an objective. I already pay $15 a month for hosting (for some side ventures that bring in a little bit more than $15 a month), and so I'm going to find some very content-thin SERPs that I can pop up in and monetize with CPA.)

Goodwill mainly, but there are a few other hidden gems around my town.

Christian or other religious-affiliated thrift shops are amazing. Much higher quality products for an often cheaper price than Goodwill.

I stay away from Salvation Army.

Have not gotten any sales over the past few days / since the last update, but I did get a text from the Halloween store. I told him that I was unable to work afternoons due to school, but I was able to work anytime after 2pm. Unfortunately they are only looking for openers right now, but they will need me towards the end of september and through October.

I'm just trying to make $3k because I have some awesome plans that need capital. I was making $20 a day through Bing ads but my account just got banned today, so now I'm making $0 per day.

I won't stop until I reach my goal. (And after that, I won't stop)

Update:

Sold a pair of jeans for $24.97 + $5.97 shipping just now! I haven't bought a new pair in awhile (because I wasn't getting any sales). Now that I sold one, I am going to be stopping at Goodwill on my way to my gym right now.

16 days since I've started this, around $3.84 in revenue per day so far.

Another pair of jeans for $16.50! I will start purchasing some more stuff soon. Right now I have about 5 items up on everyone's favorite classified site, but I haven't gotten any sales yet. (1 reply for a grill, and 1 reply for some jack stands). I was looking into flipping iPhones because of a thread posted yesterday here, but after doing some research, I've read some pretty bad horror stories. Are these stories just folklore? (Sell iPhone on eBay, buying says that they never received it, eBay sides with the buyer)

Now I have 5 more pairs of jeans out on eBay, plus one that hasn't been listed yet. Next pair that sells will be profit



Pretty good stats on what is currently listed. Might drop the price on the one with 99 views by a few bucks.

Hey, what would you use bing for? My goal right now is $20 bucks per day aswell. I saw that your ebay store is picking up! Congrats man hope everything goes as planned

Hi, thanks! It was through a JV I found here on BHW where I was paid 20% of ad spend. I made around $1000 out of it, but my account got banned. All-in-all, I think that $1000 is a pretty good trade-off for getting a Bing Ads account banned.

Your buying off local people. You can fully test the phone and everything. Is your city populated?

Ebay is really buyer sided for the answer to that. You can basically say anythings not arrived. I even had a case where I had full tracking info (ID etc) and it still didnt help me win the case..

Update:

Sold something from around the house for $5 on my favorite classifieds website.

Today, I made a semi-major investment at one of the local Goodwills and purchased a 1966 Schwinn for $35. I am going to do some very basic maintenance on it to make it beautiful. My tools include my trusty can of WD-40, car wax to make it shiny, sand paper to remove some rust, a rubber mallet to smooth out a bump, and a tire patch kit just in case. I already have a buyer lined up for $40 if I am unable to sell it for $150+ on my favorite classifieds website.

I know a thing or two about streetwear

I just don't really want to get into the game of using bots and proxies to be the quickest to pick up a pair.

Or are you talking about flipping sneakers in a different way?

Steel wool works wonders, used it to remove a bunch of general rust from the chrome parts of the bike!

Steel wooled the crap out of the chrome, covered everything in degreaser, cleaned the bike with warm soapy water, hosed everything off, lubed up the chain, used leather cleaner on the seat, and then covered the bike frame in car wax.

(Most importantly, I took it out on a barefooted test ride around the block)

Currently listed on my favorite classifieds website for $100.

Update:

Found an awesome item at a Christian thrift store today. I was going to buy it for $24 (what the label said), but the lady behind the counter thought that was a bit high of a price because "it's a thrift store for goodness' sake" and gave it to me for $12. The item is a Frank Lloyd Wright tile that I am hoping will sell for $100ish.
