If you've ever launched a store and immediately hit with a Misrepresentation suspension on GMC — you're not alone. It’s one of the most confusing and frustrating flags to receive, especially when your store seems clean.

In this thread, I’ll break down:

✅ What Triggers a Misrepresentation Suspension

Google is notoriously vague, but these are common triggers:
  • Missing Legal Pages (Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, Returns, etc.)
  • No Clear Contact Info (no email, phone, or physical address)
  • Fake or Low-Quality Products
  • Inconsistent Branding (e.g., logo says one name, domain another)
  • Unrealistic Offers (e.g., "90% off today only!" on every product)
  • Unverifiable Business Info
  • No Shipping & Returns Details
Even whitehat stores can get flagged if one of these looks off.

How to Avoid It (Whitehat Setup)

Here’s a checklist that works consistently:
  1. Use a Professional Theme
Don’t use a sketchy Shopify theme. Make the store look trustworthy.
  2. Legal Pages Are a MUST
    • Privacy Policy
    • Terms & Conditions
    • Shipping Policy
    • Return & Refund Policy
(They should be linked in the footer and match your store's language.)
  3. Add Realistic Contact Info
    • Domain-based email (e.g. [email protected])
    • Business address (can be a virtual office, just not blank)
    • Phone number (even if it’s a redirect)
  4. Make Your Offer Look Legit
Don’t overuse sales tactics like timers, popups, and “Only 1 left!”
  5. Consistent Branding
Your domain, logo, and product name should all align.
  6. Don’t Use Unverified Brands
Selling known brands without authorization is a fast track to suspension.

⚠️ What to Do If You’re Already Suspended

If your account is already suspended:
  • Review and update everything above
  • Submit an appeal
  • Wait 3–5 business days
  • Don’t appeal multiple times rapidly — it can delay the process

Hello! Thanks for the information, really helpful. I want to ask you about the business address. I currently have a UK LTD and want to start dropshipping in the France market. Is it okay to put a virtual/PO BOX as business address or will it flag the account? Otherwise, is there any workaround for this?

I had everything you mentioned on the site, even created a post on the G Forum to make sure nothing is missing before the final appeal, read that law-book long policy pages, added every single info, crystal clear business identity and still got rejected and permanently banned. I could PM the site if you wanna take a look. Best

Same here, did you find a solution?

One day these platforms might stop the crazy bans.

Unfortunately in some cases these steps are still not enough for approval. Does anyone else also see that Google has become even more stricter or is it only me. Let me know, thank you.
