Hello there.

I am a member of this forum for quite some time and I've seen many successful journeys and many failures but I've never taken any action. So I was browsing the market but I always stepped down from buying a website because I wanted to have "my own creation" that I could be proud of.

So a few days ago I bought myself a domain, hosting and launched my Wordpress site.

Now you may ask "What's the niche?" I won't specify it but it is not any mainstream niche like Health and so on.
I am starting this journey because I want some kind of archive of what I am doing and to hear from you guys as well.

I might disappoint some that this isn't a " $100 trillions per day" because I am fully aware that this journey will be a long journey and the main reason why I have made a website is not mainly for the money but to write quality content.

What is the strategy? Content, Content, and Content. At the moment there are 6 articles written by myself so roughly 3-3.5k words. I write at least 1 article per day because I want to be consistent.

The goal is to write at least 20 articles every month.
The ultimate goal so to monetize the website and be proud.

Thank you

See you in the next post.

What theme/plugins are you using?

It took me a while to find some basic and simple theme so I am using Twenty Twelve theme and
Rank Math SEO
Jetpack
Classic Editor.
It is a bit overwhelming which plugins to use and which not. Do you have any suggestions?

Keep going. It will take some time but consistency is the key.

Good to know its the best step because I believe an IM'ers first of many steps is to get well acquainted with WP

When it comes to themes...
  • Astra Pro - It comes with many premade site you can use right off the bat
  • GeneratePress
  • OceanWP
  • Neve
All those are some of the lightest and faster loading themes in the market and come with a wide range of features. My favorite is Astra Pro

When it comes to plugins. It really depends on what you´re aiming at here. But, overall, this would be my go-to plugins...
  • SEO - RankMath
  • Image Optimization - Imagify
  • Performance Optimization - WP Rocket
  • Page Builder - Elementor (Elementor Pro comes with many other premade sites as well as blocks. Making building sites a hell lot easier.)
  • Optin Form - Thrive Leads or ConvertPro (You can build this inside Elementor if you want)
That´s pretty much it!

Good luck mate!

Thank you for the suggestions. The first time I've opened the Wordpress panel I felt extremely overwhelmed by the plugins and themes also I was reading that some say that the Yoast SEO is better than RankMath. Is it purely personal preference or is there something to it?

Taking action is the most important thing, good luck on your journey ahead

You need a CDN, cloudflare works good, and too a plugin to optimize your website, do a full backup before.
Good luck, once you get your first done Its just a matter of time before you become able to make a full ecommerce in hours.

That´s normal.

That will happen every single time you decide to learn/try something new. Especially something technical like managing a CMS. But also, as everything in life, give yourself time to learn and get familiar wih everything because, eventually, YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO USE IT PROPERLY!!

It´s not a matter of "if" it´s a matter of "time"!!

I am going to take the liberty to leave you here with a few beginner tutorials about WordPress. Make sure to take the time to watch them all. I am pretty sure after you do, you will start feeling more confidence whenever working on WordPress.
I will also recommend you some YouTube channels that have helped me a lot knowing my way around WP. Some of them, have 1+ hour-long tutorials on how to build an amazing website from scratch.

Web Monkey
WPBeginner - WordPress Tutorials
Create a Pro Website
Let's Build WordPress
WordPress Tutorials - WPLearningLab
WPCrafter.com WordPress For Non-Techies
Darrel Wilson
Ferdy Korpershoek
WP Eagle

There´s absolutely no chance you won´t be able to build amazing looking websites after watching a few tutorials from any of these YouTube Channels. Especially, if you decide to start using Elementor.

Again, I know you will start feeling overwhelmed but, again, give yourself some time to get familiar with everything. These tools are designed to actually make building websites easier and, I am 100% sure after a few weeks, you´ll know what I mean.

I am going to leave here a few tutorials for Elementor...

NOTE: Remember, there are 2 Elementor plugins. A free version (Elementor) and a paid/premium version (Elementor Pro). The free version is all you need here.

also I was reading that some say that the Yoast SEO is better than RankMath. Is it purely personal preference or is there something to it?
Yoast has been the industry standard for many years and RankMath is just a new player in the game making a name for itself and, thus far, it´s making an amazing job!

Personally, I prefer using RankMath because I do most of the work on my site on Elementor Pro and Yoast doesn´t offer an integration with Elementor (yet) but, RankMath does!

So, I can optimize my site´s content while inside Elementor. This is a big plus for me.

Also, saying Yoast is better than RankMath is a bit unfair.

Why?

People saying that are comparing Yoast Premium (Paid version) vs RankMath which, is a free plugin!

If we compare the free version of Yoast with RankMath there´s no way Yoast is better.

In fact, RankMath offers many of the "premium" features and functionalities as the paid version of Yoast.

Either way, you can´t go wrong choosing one over the other.

One last thing and this might sound like an overstatement or a "cliche" but you really have all the resources you will ever need in this forum.

WordPress wise as well as SEO wise.

Make sure to ABUSE the advanced search feature offered here and search for topics you´re currently struggling with or would like to know more about it.

Anyway, you´re in the right place, surrounded by the right people and with the right mindset...KEEP IT UP!

Congrats!
You take action and thats one of most important steps!

So now keep working hard
Focus in one single thing every time
Be patient.
Results will come

Good luck mate

Congrats on your new site, time to work in marketing and promotion of the site, enjoy...

Don't worry about what people say about SEO plugins, I don't use either of those, and my sites are fine, they all do practically the same thing anyway.

I wish you all the best on your journey. Keep constancy. You can do it.

UPDATE 1.

Thank you all for your wishes and support! The articles that I am writing are on average 800 - 1000 words and now I have 11 articles. I could write 1 000 words + but I don't want to bore my audience to death. I prefer to write articles to the point. At the moment I don't have any Keyword rank trackers because I think there is no need for them in this early stage. To slightly specify my site it is in the Educational sphere Good thing is that I'm very knowledgable about my field and It is my hobby so ideas about articles are limitless. I've installed some plugins that some of you recommended like Imagify and I found a plugin here called Link Whisper so I got that one too. Yes, this forum is full of amazing ideas and content because I've been lurking here for quite some time. Now I m just browsing the "download" section to find some interesting plugins but I don't want to have too many of them. When it comes to promoting I'm planning to make a YT account so I can make videos and maybe even IG account.

See you in the next Update.
