Feeding RSS into a database

I guys,

I came across a thread here a while back that mentioned this - it was an explanation on how to make money from adsense and it mentioned creating MYSQL databases from Google trends.

Ive found some nice software for creating RSS feeds. I want to feed these into an online non-indexded database (ideally 100% private) and then use the database to monitor trends,not just from Google trends but that is a good example.

I think this could be a good way of monitoring a niche and its trends, especially if you have several information sources and know how to create the rss feed properly.

If someone can tell me how to feed the rss into a database that would be amazing! If it does turn out to a reasonably useful, I will gladly post any results back here.

To be honest as you are asking you may not be proficient in a coding language so it would probably have to be a bought script, though I don't know of any that would do what you are looking at.

Getting something like this coded could cost a little bit so it really depends on how much use you would get out of this?

should be pretty easy with php and MySQL. All you really need to do is setup a table(s) for the data you want to extract from the feed to store and use a feed parser like SimplePie to parse the feed and insert it into the database.

I was wondering the same, do you think this is what you are looking for? If so, maybe you could teach me how to use it too.

I found a copy of rss2mysql but I can't figure out how to put it up on rapidshare. If someone can pm me who knows how to upload to rapidshare I can give them a link to it from my own web server. I could also use a little help installing it if this will work.

Im taking a look at this now.. Not sure if ill be able to get it to work this way as I am away from my own computer, but as soon as I work it out I will let you know..

Cool, I purchased the rss2mysql and emailed the owner. Told him what I wanted it to do. He replied that he would also be getting back to me. If I hear anything good, I'll let you know.
