F/UF Question?

I’ve been running a few accounts for about 6 months now and have grown each to over 10k followers which i think is decent as it is my first try at social media. Recently my growth has stalled on a few of my accounts. I was wondering what kind of accounts you guys select when you’re doing F/UF. Should i be doing accounts with 1m+ followers like i have been for a while or should i focus on smaller accounts?

My experience is you can get more quality followers from small/medium accounts the big accounts you might just target bots/inactive profiles based on your filter settings.

At your phase, I'd highly suggest you focus on medium sized accounts that appear to have real engagement. Follow/unfollow their engagers. If you've been F/UF 1m+ accounts for so long non-stop, you begin to lose some of the growth advantage.
Maybe take a small break for medium/small accounts and then head back to the 1m+ accounts, you'll likely see a spike in the amount of engagement it gets you once again.

Getting great follow sources requires a bit of research. You want to find accounts in your niche that gain followers each day. By following the followers (and people that interact with) those accounts, you are inviting active followers. You want to avoid following accounts that are loosing followers.

How do you know if an account is gaining followers? Find a bunch of accounts in your niche first. Enter the account name on https://socialblade.com/instagram/ Look for accounts that gain at least 150 followers a day. A bit less is ok too if there are not many accounts in your niche.

Now this strategy is not foolproof. Some accounts buy fake followers and you will be following those fakes. Many accounts are also followed by bots and they don't follow you back. So you have to check your follow back rate regularly.

Medium size and small accounts are often good, because less bots target those. The bots go after the big accounts.

Can you explain what you mean by "go after the big accounts" Don't bots just follow who paid for them to follow? What does a bot gain by simply following a big account? Does it want to be scraped by others?

Big accounts are easy to find, so they attract more bots and regular people doing follow/unfollow. So these are not the bots (fake followers) that people pay for. You are right that those kinds of fake bot followers can be bought by small and big accounts.

The smaller or medium size accounts are a bit harder to find. That is why less people/bots doing follow/unfollow target them.

There is also a popular video on YouTube about gaining followers on IG for people not using a bot. The strategy is to follow a big account, then wait a couple of minutes and unfollowing. After that repeat. Each time the video maker got a couple of new followers. Like you said the goal is to be scraped by others.

I usually test different ones and measure the rate i'm getting. Usually super big accounts give lower rates since it's wide audience, while smaller pages are more focused to hardcore followers.

Thanks! I started out using small/medium accounts and then went bigger. I have been using socialblade throughout the duration of my journey. But will be back looking for smaller accounts. Thanks for the advice!

Will do! Thanks for the advice. Would you say accounts under 100k or somewhere between 100-250k?

I've found higher quality followers in the 50-100K range, and even 20K-50K. Be careful that they aren't just receiving comments from engagement pods, or purchasing them. It takes a little more time to check that, but definitely worth it.

I always scrape bigger accounts because the people following the small accounts are also following the big accounts lol.

your filtering settings are also very important. They is no need to follow an account who has 10k followers but is following only a small amount. Likewise you want to make sure they are an engager (like / comment a lot). Also the more basic checks to ensure they are still active, are not a bot / fake / spam account, have a minimum level of followers etc etc. A lot of the time you can get better results targeting 100 users, than a blanket follow run of 1000 users.
