EZineArticles GOING DOWN!!!

i JUST signed up for my first trial account with them a few days ago, now i read this! :\

are the free accounts worthless??
for seo juice?
ive seen the nofollow comment and the no links allowed comment.

if im looking for a little link seo juice are the free accounts 100% worthless??

Good news ! . I always hate them. Their not even give a cut from the publicity that you generate and their are so damn an ridiculous strict .
Long life to hubpages !

I still prioratise Ezine with the first copy of most stuff. I even give them a 48 hour head start on original content before I spin the ass off it.

I've got literally thousands of articles on 'zine.

It's the exclusivity that makes them so good. They are a long term bet. Spammy spun shit get's chucked. I have got to 75% copyscape before now and STILL got rejected for plagirism.

Yeah, they need to get their thumb outta their ass, but all in all, sending to them is just ticking another box on the autosubmitter - so while they perform in terms of traffic flow (which they really do) I'll keep sending them content.

Scritty

...In the past months I have seen nothing but frustration with their approval process. I think they have forgotten that it's everyones contributions that made them what they are.

You hit the nail on the head.

That guy that owns EZA seems to think people owe him. I don't like the way he comes across at times.

Well, first of all, Compete only shows US Traffic data estimates. It's not worldwide, so really it's just showing the trend of US visits, not overall traffic. If you take a look at Google Trends for websites you'll see this trend is not showing: trends.google.com/websites?q=ezinearticles.com&geo=all&date=all&sort=0
In addition Alexa.com shows that EzineArticles has only grown, drastically: alexa.com/siteinfo/ezinearticles.com#
With that said Quantcast also only shows US Data and it shows a somewhat similar trend to Compete but it seems to have stabilized: quantcast.com/ezinearticles.com

Damn, I really want to agree with this...but....

Look at the link again.

First off, it's scary how hubpages and squidoo are increasing in traffic. Consistently, month over month.

Second, look at EZA. Oct 2009 is when they announced their "war" on affiliate marketers. There was a dip for 4 months...probably because of the massive article deletions and Google dance. But starting Feb 2010, their traffic has stabilized and has been on the rise. The fact they're being so strict is bound to appeal to Google's algorithm in the long term.

They are still the top dog. Others are stealing some of their market share, but no one else ranks as high in Google as they do. As long as Google keeps giving them love, they will be the top directory of choice.

I use Automatic Article Submiitters to submit all article sites, but ezinearticles is one of the sites I skip. Just don't want to waste my time for receiving another reject email from them.

They are too strict and I think because of this, many have turn to other article directories.

Nah...they're more of an old dog than top dog and there are lots of energetic puppies out there just snapping at their heels!!

What amazes me about these recent stats is how they are so revised compared to the earlier stats I captured. I makes me wonder just how compete determines their traffic. Seriously.. how is it that today in Jan this year they were at 11.1million, but when I viewed them a few months back, suddenly that past stat of just over 10million has grown!

However, what you are pointing out, even if we look at the overall picture, and compare it to the others, you can see that Ezine is still on a downward trend. One month up in numbers compared to the rest of the time GOING DOWN... while as you point out, the rest just continue to grow. That tells you still that they are GOING DOWN! :)

Even if you want to try and look at it in a positive light.. they are basically at a flat line. Compare this month to the beginning of the year. Identical. They have seen NO GROWTH in the ENTIRE year. Actually the stat shows a loss of over 8%! Even if we take compete latest revised stats as the actual number. Things that flatline in this world, they are dead. :)

Meanwhile we have squid and hub enjoying 50+% growth over the year. Who would have thought the places that encourage editors and share their wealth are doing well while the one that wants your money so you can become their next S&M play thing is doing poorly. :)

You nailed it. HP and Squid are rocking with traffic. There's no denying it.

I don't trust compete too much. A prior comment in this thread debunked their traffic estimates. So we might be analyzing junk data. ;)

They should just definitely change how their site looks. people tend to get bored.

What is the accuracy of these Compete.com stats?

I know some sites where Compete and Alexa are both giving inaccurate results.

Is it possible to crosscheck these results with stats from another source?

traffic over the past year is something like this according to compete:

Ezine -8%

Squidoo +57%

Hubpages +62%

It's entirely possible that over the next couple of years that ezine will drop further and other sites will top them. If I was running ezine one thing I would do immediately is get a better looking design. Ezine right now just screams year 2000 to me.

Someone mentioned people reading IM ebooks and thats where EZ gets alot of people
coming to the site to submit articles. Thats true....but have you read any of the newer bum marketing ebooks latley? Where the authors used to say go with EZ only and ignore the other article directorys.....now they provide a list for article submission and talk about how it has gotten harder for people to submit to EZ and get approved.

This might be why the other article directorys have gained and if so, will continue to gain.

I am getting so sick of EzineArticles. I don't know if it is a coincidence or not but I was getting some great approval times recently within a day. But that was until I had an article in problem status and ever since then it has been taking 3 or 4 days. It is such a pain in the ass to have to wait 3 days to get approved and then get an article in problem status.

I get the feeling that they don't like certain topics too. I recently submitted articles that were about the iPad and both were in problem status for the stupidest reasons like spelling mistakes(which there were none of). For both I just deleted the article and in the "Reason for deletion" comment field I wrote,"Well I guess you guys don't like my articles on the iPad so I am just going to go submit them somewhere else instead".

The thing that I have noticed about their traffic is,(with my articles anyway) although the day that my article is approved it gets massive views within a day they die off where as with other article directories they don't receive the same amount of views the day that they are published but in the long term they get more views than EzineArticles.

Die Ezine, Die!!

I've left them some pretty direct comments also...you think they'd get the message as I'm sure there are loads of people in the same situation.

@Flurbuff - Hubpages is performing well for me also. I "left" Squidoo a while back but will have to take another look.

i hope they dont because most of my income is from there

I recently got 25 articles approved on Ezine for a customer of mine. His site is about 13 weeks old. There are over 2 million sites competing for his keywords.

Here is the summary of the results:
- 1 of the 25 articles ranks 5th on Google as of today.
- This article on Google got him 952 clicks with a crazy click through rate of 91%. It is sure bound to get him more in the coming days.
- 6 of the 25 articles ranks right on top of Ezine search results for his keyword. These articles also feature right on top of the 'related articles' list.
- These 6 articles collectively have little over 550 clicks.
- All of these 25 articles are indexed on Google, Bing/Yahoo
- Over 13 of these articles are already showing up in the back link report for his site.

This customer had no other forms of SEO done to his 13 weeks old site prior to ordering from us. This was the only SEO thing he ever did on his site besides ensuring 'on page' SEO elements were in place.

Is Ezine really dying for this customer? Go figure!
