I mentioned this in another thread but thought it deserved it's own.

Check out where Ezinearticles was last year, and look at it today:

I circled the bottom parts so you didnt miss where they get their traffic from and what types of terms get searched. Looks like 1/2 their refer comes from google, but check out those numbers.

This time last year they were sporting over 11 million uniques, and now just over 8 million!!! That is a whopping 38% drop in traffic!

I think this has a lot to do with their editorial policies. However, their downward trend took place at the exact same time Google update their search as well.

What do you think, has EzineArticles killed themselves?

Oh and btw.. this is not happening with other article directories. There are others who are actually gaining more traffic now.

Will Ezinearticles survive till next year? At the going rate it doesn't look like it!

I dont use ezine anymore, but I am sure there is a logistics issue that they are fully aware of and are sorting out.

But definitely some intersting info you have here, for sure

I think it's because of people like you who have stopped using ezinearticles have caused their slip off.

In the past months I have seen nothing but frustration with their approval process. I think they have forgotten that it's everyones contributions that made them what they are.

What are people using know for article marketing ?

What website is that that you got the stats off? looks nice.

Is that compete they been around awhile !

How is this out of context? Look at the others, they have all INCREASED in traffic since this time last year. Ezine has taken a walloping 38% hit.

Of course I looked at whats going on with others. This is why I noted in my post that others are not seeing this kind of serious decline in traffic. They are going down down down... and it doesn't look like it's stopping anytime. I have heard they are starting to toss out little trinkets to their existing pubs like coffee mugs and mouse pads. Seriously, who the heck is in charge of their marketing there? They think this is going to stop the bleeding, it won't.

If you are going to treat your very user base like shit, this is what happens. That's my take. I don't know if anybody else has greater insights into this.

Sorry, I should have elaborated. What I meant is that eZA still has the highest traffic amount by far, and that's why I do and will continue to submit my articles there. I provide quality content and usually don't have problems with overly long submission times, censorship, deleted articles, etc.

We'll wait and see if the changes become so drastic that ArticleBase suddenly overcomes eZA, but for now eZA has a clear lead.

I am pretty sure that ezine will survive, it might become unpopular, but i believe that it will survive.

ezine will still be around. They might have to downsize some people and servers but it will still be better then the ones a guy hosts off a 10$ server.

You all assume that Google even pays attention to what were one considered "authority" sites! If you are banking on that, then you can bank on the fact that they are "on to these sites"

Their PR rank is so far beyond what you think that even the adsense site is now 8/10 when it was always a solid 10/10 before.

Don't try for PR. Try for unique! Even then if your "unique" content isn't 5 years old, you can't rank over 5 for long! Even if you change content every day. So if your lucky, even unique content will get you a 5.

Example! CL! They have pretty much 100% unique content every day. And their rank is 7.

But who cares! I see zero's above authority sites! So! What is the issue?

Trying to guess what your going to rank no matter how you use your best SEO karate is now useless! They know your best kung foo!

The bottom line is "positive karate is futile" and "resistance is futile"

They are too big and smart to be beat!

If you are smarter than they are, then why are you here?

Just do your best and you will get traffic! If your into squeeze pages, your not long for this world! Squeeze = Sleeze. It's for trying to market to marketers! Fool me once!

someone needs to hit ezine with the ultimate monthlong ddos. They've become extremely authoritarian in their editing policies of late and ive since long ago stopped using them. They even have the nerve to tell you to fix articles that they have long since approved or else risk getting them deleted. Screw them, screw them hard

Ezine will still get folks because for years every im guru and wannabe says "o yeah, submit your articles to ezine !". Think about the millions of ebooks with a plug for ezine laying around on all those hard drives.

Ezine articles got some of the best free publicity you will ever see. And they did not have to give you crap for it ! The only way they will really lose is if the IM world in unison say screw Ezine lets go somewhere else. It will only take one or two gurus to make the rest of the sheep flock to another site.

Go ahead and try to tell Charlie Page how to run his business! Ezines is beyond your reach! It's like the U.S. trying to stop BP's oil flow!

Damn... seems the 'Too Big To Fail' model is... failing....

I'm still using ezine and although their not popular as they used to be I think they will definitely come on top again, it's just a matter of time..
