EZineArticles GOING DOWN!!!

I like that Xenoz! Let 'em all drop! And drop hard! I'd like to them all fry in a big way! Then we can get back to an even playing field! Then maybe Google and the like won't play GOD anymore!

A lot of players and only one major PROFET/PROFIT!

Sorry, I should have elaborated. What I meant is that eZA still has the highest traffic amount by far, and that's why I do and will continue to submit my articles there. I provide quality content and usually don't have problems with overly long submission times, censorship, deleted articles, etc.

We'll wait and see if the changes become so drastic that ArticleBase suddenly overcomes eZA, but for now eZA has a clear lead.

Fair enough.. I understand what you mean now.. yeah they still have some traffic. The downward spiral though isn't stopping.

To be frank, I think there is an opportunity now for someone else to come along and take their place. I don't think it will be like ezine, but something a little more up to date.

Ya I also don't use ezine anymore b/c of their f**king approval time + all links is now nofollow...So according to SEO point of view its Sucks

EzineArticles is here to stay, and thats only because of their publisher guidelines. I mean, they're not strict. All they want is content that is grammatically correct and isn't misleading, and in my opinion - thats not a lot to ask for.

When ArticlesBase came around, it would rank pretty highly for even the more competitive search terms. But look at it now, its been spammed a lot. For example, look at this profile. How on earth can a respectable articles website approve articles like this? And this gives the reason why there approval times are that low. These spammy articles have been getting a lot of views uptil now. The articlesbase articles that ranked earlier are still getting there share of se traffic, but the newer articles get less and less views as time goes on.

Ezinearticles had always been and will be worth the effort.

More than 50% of the traffic shown came from SEs but today more people are getting info from social medias like twitter. Those swifts may have caused that slip off?
Ezinearticles site is still a great place I like.

If you are using a few free accounts on Ezinearticles you have to wait up to two weeks until your article is approved. And you are not allowed to put any link in the article body.
For me, this is more than enough to stop using Ezinearticles !

I wish there was a way to see 2 year data but I guess it is only for the pro's. I am not sure why their traffic has dropped so much. It could be because a lot of writers with free memberships just do not contribute anymore because the approval times are long, the articles get released at odd times.

I joined them last year and they had mentioned that they have an affiliate program coming soon.

About 7 months later, they say the same thing. Coming Soon.
Code:
http://ezinearticles.com/affiliates/
I suppose they will get a small boost when that happens but it might not happen at all considering the fact that they are making less money these days. I however think that they are experiencing a drop in traffic because they were pioneers in the field and maximum market share can only go up so much. After a certain point, it is impossible to stop competitors from eating into your share a little bit.

These problems started last year in earnest when Chris knight started his so called war on affiliates, but having said that their traffic has been in decline for a long while, look on quantcast over the long term to see.

There was a big clampdown at the end of last year and they started issuing threats to people some of which bordered on the absurd. They threatened me and loads of people I know and a lot of people just gave them the finger and stopped submitting.

The bottom line was they removed millions of articles, closed numerous accounts and did not think of the consequences...google did.

whats going to happen when a bot comes round and millions of articles that were previously indexed are no longer there... (they did remove millions of articles).

I used to have several premium accounts myself on EZA and used to make a crapload out of them and money used to pour in like water out of a tap.

I personally think those days are gone. The traffic is now shit, the editors are idiots and there is still money to be made but four figure days on EZA are gone, for me at least. For all the crap from EZA about how great it still is I can only say this. I only need to look at my stats to see how far down the drain they have gone.

Another problem is the fact their pages are now absolutely plastered in adsense. Anyone with half a brain will tell you that this is going to lose you clicks and the amount of adsense on there now borders on the idiotic. its like spot the article.

A lot of keywords that were previously easy to rank for on google with EZA are not anymore. Maybe their traffic will recover, but not in the short term.

Articlesbase are full of spam as someone said but they have been clamaping down as well and started blocking and deleting accounts from people who have been spamming them or putting up other peoples articles.

There is still a lot of traffic on EZA but for me the good days are finished but it is still possible to make some money out of them.

Deleting pages from their site without 301 redirects will lose them a lot of Googleluv but the main reason they've dropped is the Caffeine update; EZA may like to get the articles first but that doesn't stop them then appearing elsewhere afterwards. Google will now only show one or two of the exact same thing and it's not always Ezine that wins.

I'd also love to know what their bounce rate is. That amount of Adsense on a page verges on visual abuse but it does make for a great CTR. It also makes for an astronomically high bounce rate which won't be helping their Google rankings either.

EZA is not strict when accepting articles. But getting the platinum status (or something like this) is difficult. Tried two times and rejected.

I don't post articles at eZA for SEO, I do it for CLICKTHRUS! And I don't give a crap about putting links in the body, I write great signatures and put them there and get CLICKTHRUS. I don't care a little bit about where the link is or how visitors get there or seo-ing a $1 .info redirect to a salespage, all I care about is driving the traffic and getting the sale.

Sounds to me like some of you just need to rethink your strategy at eZA, not abandon alltogether.

I think your CTR from EZA depends greatly on what is going on here. Even if you are not interested in the SEO benefits for your own site, I do believe a 38% drop in EZAs own traffic certainly impacts your own model even more than those looking for SEO benefits.

Perhaps you also need to start rethinking your strategy in driving traffic to your own sales.

At the current rate of attrition, EZA could be going down another 40% in traffic by the end of this year. This is going to put the competition that was noted above as the dominant traffic driver.

This all assumes that this is your primary traffic source. If you are counting on other sources for traffic than you certainly should be looking to them to pick up the slack.

The purging of all those articles sure didn't help.

Pushing down the related articles and most viewed ones lower on the page have probably hurt page views a bit as well.

I still personally use them for traffic and backlinks as I haven't had problems with them. I'm not noticing a change in traffic from the articles I have already put into the system at all.

no sites will stay on top forever. you have to constantly upgrade and update.

8.5M is still lots. I think reduction is mainly due to low quality articles.
