Expired Tumblr - Method to Keep or Increase PA

Anyone of us who used expired tumblr accounts, faced a drop in PA after a while. This is natural, as most of the backlinks to tumblr profile come from reblogs and likes (links created on posts by reblogging and liking posts), and these get deleted after the profile has expired.

So, a simple way to preserve PA is to go to MOZ site explorer, look up all backlinks to the expired tumblr profile, open each one and reblog/like it. That way you can preserve at least some of the link juice by getting the same backlinks the profile used to have.

Of course, you can use other tools to check backlinks. You can even try to increase PA by reblogging further. If I do this, I focus on tumblr accounts with their own domain names. You can create your own list of these along the way. However, after PA of around 30, it gets harder, so I don't spend too much time on it.

It's a simple solution, if you're into it and have some time to spare.

First your tumblrs are low quality or they have low count of backlinks.
How long does it take to loose those backlinks?

Once a username 'expires' (more accurate: the owner deletes the blog willingly), internal links are not deleted.
Don't believe me? Just check your links and delete the blog. Check again links and see that they are still there.

To keep your PA, if that is all that matters to you, you can either:
- spam the shit out of it
- or get better expired tumblrs

To increase links reblogging you have to make hundreds of reblogs. This will push your own posts from the homepage, where the link juice is.

Sure you can build links to them, but it is weird for me to spend resources to find expired blogs which are supposed to have some nice backlinks.

Most of the ones I scrape have like 95% backlinks from other tumblr posts. When I find them, moz reports that links are there, but after a while these links disappear. Maybe it's just from the MOZ database?

It doesn't take me much, depending on the number of backlinks. But since I need to have something on those profiles, I also use those posts as scheduled reblogs.

These accounts are here just for some diversity (in my case), but I ranked some really low competition keywords using them. They tend to stick a long time in good SERPs when I do this reblogging thing. So, it has some effect. However, buying/finding nice higher accounts (40+) and keeping them active is always a better solution, of course. This is just cheaper for those on really really tight budget.

I think because Moz always update the baclink slower than Ahrefs, so these baclinks were broken.

This is just a workaround, but as @mindmaster said it, it is pretty much a waste of time. I've become much better at scraping expired tumblrs and I don't do this anymore... You will achieve better results for your tumblrs by keeping them active and reblogging other posts. That way you create new internal backlinks, if it's of value to you. But then keep your link in the description field, so that it doesn't roll off the front page.

So, to sum it up: don't waste your time on this guys, there are better things you can do with it. Learn to find better expired tumblrs. I use scrapebox for this, there are many guides for this on BHW.

There are several sellers in the marketplace, I'm sure you'll find the right one. But if you're buying, better go for TF than PA.

I keep finding the Page Authority is higher in Scrapebox or on bulk checkers, but then a lower Page Authority when I check them individually in Moz (e.g. 55 PA in Scrapebox but 30 PA in Moz). Anyone know why, please?

That is because scrapebox uses their API and you use their old MOZ checker.
