Hello house,
I’ll be detailed as I can. I have 3 domains right now and I’ll categorize them as dad, son and grandson domains for clarity.
Some months back, I moved to a new domain due to Adsense issue, the dad domain had no penalty whatsoever. The son domain gained it’s dad’s authority in a short period and was doing fine on SERPs, sending in good traffic and everything seems back to normal.
Fast forward to the latest algorithm update, the son domain got hit, I initially thought it was a nulled plugin redirecting my search traffic that caused the penalty.
Found out about the nulled plugin around same time the search traffic drastically dropped. Then i tried fixing both ends. Deleted the plugin and performed a site wide check to see if there’s malware.. none. So I waited couple weeks and there was no result. Word for word posts titles won’t show up on Google even if there’s no competition. No manual action or security action.
Read I could be waiting for 6 months to 1 year or even forever for them to lift an algorithm penalty, and I also realized a lot of people hit since last year’s September are yet to be freed. Not to be waiting on uncertainty, I checked my backlink profile using some tools and it showed good. Nevertheless, I manually looked through and disavowed many backlinks that looks spammy, although I never personally bought backlinks.
Deleted a lot of posts as a rep on search community said it might be due to too many posts creation (scaled content). It’s a news/ entertainment niche and the content are over 5 years old. Cleaned up over 2,000 posts, merged similar ones and decided to move to a fresh domain.
Redirected the dad and son to the grandson (separately) and it gained authority within few weeks but it appears to be dead on arrival. At the initial stage, the grandson was showing up on SERPs for low competitive titles and it was a good sign, but when the juice settled in, it settled with the penalty.
Just as the son, the grandson won’t show up for word for word posts titles that are in no way competitive.. regardless of all the juice and good DA.
I’d like to maintain the grandson if it’s possible to remove the penalty.. but I’m not sure that’s possible and don’t want a forever waiting issue.
I’d disavowed both dad and son from the grandson domain. Removed the redirections from both old domains and continued cleaning up posts. I don’t know if this will be enough to get them lift the ban.
Another option is to start over with same content without redirecting.. to avoid passing penalty again. Starting from scratch is not a small thing.
Any advice or suggestions on what to do.. Thanks.
