Essential Wordpress Plugins 2020

Hey BHW,

When launching a new site, regardless of the subject matter or content, what are the essential base plugins you make sure to install on all new wordpress installations?

Plugins that cover following functionality.

SEO
Cache
Security
Optimization
 
It depends on the purpose of the website in my opinion, but I usually opt for:

  • Hummingbird
  • RankMath
  • Contact Form 7
  • Smush.it
These 4 usually give me a good base for contact, SEO and optimisation. I sometimes use Wordfence for security but this entirely depends too.
 
Yeah, the type of site is crucial, I have several different builds (autoblogging, wpp-script, dropshipping). I'm referring to the essential base plugins for all site types. Any of you also still using w3cache over wp rocket?

I like wp rocket over w3cache, but I found hummingbird to be a decent all-round plugin for handling caching, compression and asset optimisation

Changing Author URL Plugin
 
i'm in a love relation with rankmath. It works very good.
Also i always install tinypng
something for cache
and cloudflare with the cloudflare plugin for cache preferably.
a good contact form is ideal, but i can't find something i really like and free.
 
Hi So i have set up my new site. In general is there any general plugin i am missing here before i migrate from localhost to live ?

Astra
Elementor
tutor lms for courses and associated plugins
smush
theme my login
woocommerce
WP mail SMTP
Wp Sweep
Yoast SEO
W3 fastest cache
updraft plus for migration from local host

My suggestion is:

- Rank Math

- WPRocket

- Wordfence

- Contact form 7
 
  • Performance - W3 Super Cache + Autoptimize
  • Image Optimization - Imagify or ShortPixel
  • SEO - RankMath
  • Page Builder - Elementor or, if you know your way around CSS, definitely get Oxygen.
  • Security - WordFence
