What is your opinion on .edu domains? I've heard a lot of different opinions on these topics.

Some ppl here on BHW are selling .edu backlinks. So I am intersted on your insight if those links are worth it.

Do you think backlinks from .edu page is more valuable than backlink from a .com page?

For example:
  • Is a backlink from 60 DA .edu page better than a backlink from 60 DA .com page?

Not long ago John Muller said in google hangouts that a lot of edu links lost their power because people abuse them. So 60 DA .com page can have more impact than an edu link.
 
If you give me a 95 DA .edu link in a 4th level from the home, VS a 60 DA .com link in the home page, I will pick the .com straight away hands down...
.EDU have for sure an extra notch, specially for diversification of links (because they are not that common), but only when we compare apples with apples.
 
Yes Edu links More Effective and give best results .you will go and build more than edu links
 
Edu profile links are only good for camouflage backlinks using naked URL as the anchor. If you can get links from an article listed on an EDU domain it will give you a lot more push.

how many outbound links?
if you place a link how long it takes google to find it?

Yes. Backlinks from profiles are very weak and in most cases even nofollow.

Some ppl here on BHW offer links from subdomain articles of those .edu pages.
 
.Edu domains tend to publish high-quality and authoritative information that Google loves. Top .edu domains often have tons of links pointing at them, increasing their Domain Authority and FA. And lot of .edu domains are quite old, which generally means they’ll have more authority and links pointing at the domain.
Google gives more preference to the edu sites and a backlink or two from such sites may result in higher visibility in SERP.

if both of them are coming from the same level of pages I will go ahead with .edu

and if the regular .com backlink has a higher DA? Do you think .edu links are good for diversification one should have in his link portfolio?
 
no matter what google says. but truth is edu links gives you boost if using in right way.
 
edu links gives you boost if using in right way. it has more priority than .com

it is kindof hard/expensive to get a backlinks from harvard for example. Even though most of these backlink strategies work by posting articles on subdomains of the .edu page.

that's obvious. everyone here knows that. However it might drive traffic and is good for diversification nontheless.

you can get without spending a penny from all major university.
 
It does, but comparatively weaker than it used to be.
