I am still confused about how to write a product description as per SEO as some of my product descriptions are too long to make it more informative than my competitor's as Semrush's on-page checker suggested but still not ranking well and outranking the competitors
Any suggestions or tips?
should I keep my product description long and build links on that
or
any other way?

On my opinion , write product descriptions that are genuinely informative and engaging, include relevant keywords naturally, and ensure your website is fast and mobile-friendly for better SEO, rather than just focusing on length or link-building.

Write product descriptions that inform potential buyers effectively, highlighting key features, benefits, and unique qualities in a concise, engaging manner to resonate with your audience.

Strive for a balance between informative and concise in your product descriptions, ensuring relevant keywords are naturally included. While long descriptions can be beneficial, they must engage the reader and add value. Besides honing descriptions, focus on building quality backlinks and optimizing other on-page SEO factors to improve your rankings.

make sure they are relevant to the product and include you main keyword. I'm assuming you are using longer tail keywords for these pages as you're just starting to get authority so make sure its more specified towards that long tail keyword. You can also search the keyword on Google, analyse the top 10 results and see which words are being used the most, this should tell you what google and customers want to see the most.

Writing effective product descriptions for SEO involves a balance. Focus on relevancy, highlighting unique selling points, and including keywords naturally. Long descriptions can be beneficial, but prioritize quality over quantity. Additionally, consider optimizing other aspects of your website, like site speed, user experience, and backlinks, to improve rankings.

i will share some free game. copy best competitors description into [ai chat here]. and ask it to improve it in a [insert target audience tone] way.

This way you this have a sold information base but also better writing.

Ah, also consider posting the HCU guidelines into the bot before starting :)

Use chatGPT for that.

According to my knowledge, in your product descriptions, focus quality, relevancy, and user experience over length; optimize for keywords, but also consider site speed and responsive design to improve SEO performance.

Focus on quality over length. Craft concise, engaging product descriptions with relevant keywords. Prioritize user experience. Include unique selling points and benefits. High-quality Back-links can help, but don't compromise readability for length.

the content is unique
Great to hear that. If you did all the necessary on page SEO now its time to dive into Off page seo. I would recommend to some high da backlinks. That would work here best.

If you use neuronwriter or surfer, it asks for going by the semantic keywords path.

That may not be unique content anymore as your article is aligned with your competitors wording. So who is correct?

Product description does not necessarily need to be long but it should be convincing for the customers to purchase.

Secondly, if the product is competitive and there are a lot of other sellers selling a similar product, then you have to outrank them by making some backlinks to your product page and it's advisable to make a diversified link profile.

Generally, particular product pages are not very hard to rank as these products come and go and not every marketplace seller does backlinking and stuff on individual pages.

I don't believe you need super long content for all product pages.
Just create those with good descriptions and move on

While SEMrush suggests longer content, it doesn't always mean better. Your description should be concise, informative, and engaging. Overstuffing can actually harm user experience.

You need to make sure your description is relevant, highlight what's special about your product, and use keywords in a way that doesn't feel forced. Although longer descriptions can be good, don't forget that quality is more important than length.
