No, the majority of people don't care about Google's tracking their every move. Only the more privacy conscious of us use services like DDG and StartPage. I think DDG will become more popular, but will hit a ceiling that they won't be able to get past unless the overwhelming majority of people on this planet decide to care more about their privacy. If that happened, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, etc. would have some major issues and it would be a good day to short their stocks...

did linux beat windows?



duckduckgo is way too small. i can see it becoming more and more popular and maybe even caching up with bing/yahoo but theres no way it will beat google

Is it interesting to average Joe in any way? Thats what I always think about in such cases, if no, than I do not think there is any chance. Which does not mean it cannot over time gain some interesting part of the market, but beating google seems totally crazy right now.

They are growing for sure but not possible to beat Google in recent time. Not even close to their market in the upcoming days. Google is all around in the IM world.

I remember reading about that a few months back. That would be great, especially if it has some of the google operators like "linksto" that we could use.

There's actually an active movement encouraging duckduckgo usage online by saying that instead of telling people to Google it.
