Do You Still Enjoy Blogging or Is It Just Work Now?

In my experience, it’s a mix of both I still enjoy blogging for the creative side, but once it becomes consistent work with deadlines and SEO pressure, it often feels more like a job than a hobby.
 
I totally get that burnout, but you should try shifting your focus to high-value content so it feels like a creative win again. Honestly, once you start treating it like a strategic asset instead of just a chore, the fun factor usually comes back.
 
For a lot of people, blogging today feels less creative and more like a process to follow. With SEO rules, algorithms, and growing competition, it can start to feel like routine work instead of something fun. Still, it does not have to stay that way if you write about topics you truly like while following a strategy, blogging can still be enjoyable and creative.

Nowadays, AI provides significant assistance with blogging, but I prefer the days before AI existed.

When you first start blogging, it’s all about creativity and expressing ideas, but over time, as you focus more on SEO, consistency, and results, it can start to feel like a structured system or even a routine task. Still, it doesn’t have to lose its enjoyment-you can keep the balance by mixing strategic content with topics you genuinely care about. Holding on to your personal voice and curiosity is what keeps blogging from becoming just another chore.
 
Look, once you're deep into seo, it’s 90% spreadsheets and 10% writing. I still get a kick out of seeing my pages hit the top of google, but the daily grind of keyword research and meta tags is definitely work. To keep it fun, I stop worrying about the data sometimes and just post what I actually care about.

You can still create a blog based on your passion. I see many such blogs ruling the internet.
 
For me, it’s not just work or just a hobby — it’s more like something I’ve been consistently doing.
 
Blogging often shift for a passion to a system because the pressure of SEO.and algorithm can prioritize over the original joy of creating.

Yeah, I think it normal. In the start it feels creative, but once you understand SEO and systems, it naturally starts to feel more like work.
 
From what I'm hearing, work for sure.

I guess it comes hand in hand with much increased difficulty.
