it is followed and pass link juice, the only thing the anchor really does is help SE bots understand what is on your page.
In fact google even considers a mention of a site as a link theese days.

No need to be sorry for being a noob we were all noobs at one stage in life

As @lion1978 said if the link page is providing do-follow links then it will surely pass the link juice :)

Yes it will and in some case random anchors can actually be more beneficial than using the same keyword anchors again and again. You want to go with natural styles really. Like you will want to share just the domain name, brand name, main keywords from there you will go with some generic ones like "over here" "check out brand names article" and then the non genric ones that you make up on the spot.

Trial and error mate trial and error. All links that are do follow will be link juice even some "no follow" ones do work too. It's only natural to have a mixture of both, weather google chooses to follow that link or not is there own choice they dont just go oooo a "no follow" link i can't get passed that and walk off lol. There just less likely to add it to one of your pages ranking factors. But always remember just because it's a do follow link and google does index it, it does not mean it will automatically give you juice.

Content is key so make sure its awesome stuff before you start backlink hunting.

Well it would need some text wouldn't it? Or an image.

But yea, assuming google can follow it and it's so follow then yes.

And even with all generic anchor backlinks you can still give the destination a nice push as long as destination page is will optimised for your target keywords.

If it's do follow yes it will pass. Btw that's the most natural link you can get from Google's perspective...

You mean Anchor Text? Yes, it will still count but it's always better to use anchor text for the keyword that you want to rank.

The answer is "definitely yes." I have seen Google Search Console report a "link" to my site that was a PDF file that spelled out my URL without even encoding a link. It's difficult to have something be less of a "link" than that, yet there it was, recognized by Google.

Yes, it does pass on link juice to the destination site. And feel free to ask questions. We'd love to help people that are new in our community. We were all noobs someday so I can thoroughly relate to your situation.
