Do I really need Page Builder's like Elementor?

Hello All,

I have lifetime access to Festinger's Vault so Plugins and Themes are no problem -

So I'm now building my site, and I'm on Generate Press Premium - and it seems the coming templates with it are very flexible and have what I need, and I don't even know how to code

I still have Elementor Pro installed - but my question now would be, do I really need this now? Where do I really need Elementor for? I can upload my articles smoothly with only GeneratePress Premium

I am only technology mad, not technology pro - please guide me - which part of the website should I use Elementor for?

I would like to know which part of your websites do you use Page Builders like Elementor or WP Bakery or any of them?

For blog posts you probably won't need Elementor or any other page builder. If anything, I would only use it for the home page or other pages where you need a more complex design.
 
I use it for the whole site. I create a home page, legal pages, contact, archives, 404 and a custom post layout.

Its also really good for landing pages as well.
 
I only use Elementor for homepage design. Never for any other pages on the website.

Ofc you can go crazy, but for every page to have the same theme would require alot of time and editing and it will imapact your site speed.

Infact, I'm try to not use page builders at all as they often impact the loadtime due to additional lines of code and images.
 
Just use it for your landing page deigns, or perhaps if you have a sales page. For instance on my website (which I sold recently) I used it to design the landing page which has some cool thumbnails linked to my blog posts
 
No page builder is good. If you choose WordPress, pick a lightweight theme, as Astra. Stick with Guttenberg editor or ACF. You will achieve over 90 speed score by default. 99-100 with some optimization. If you really care about speed and UX, switch to Gatsby and headless CMS.
 
Elementor is for the front end. If you want to customize your homepage or any page you want to then you can use Elementor for that. And if you don't want to do anything like that then you can skip it.

This would have been my thoughts if I never tried Oxygen Builder. It completely eliminates a theme so no theme files load. You can easily create Gutenberg blocks using it and it integrates in with ACF.
 
See..these builders come into place when you need to create or adjust layouts of some pages it may some page, post or some CPT.
 
Pagebuilders slow down your site and in turn degrade your rankings. Google is obsessed with speed. I wouldn't suggest page builders unless you're running your site on a powerful VPS. If you're on shared hosting, then choose extremely lightweight theme without any features. The page experience algo is going live in 2021 (probably May). So, wait for it before you decide any permanent changes.
 
If you are satisfied with what the Generate Press theme offers you, then you do not need to use Elementor. All page builders are more or less bulky and load the page with their code.
 
Just learn Gutenberg since WordPress is pushing it to replace pagebuilders anyway and migrating later is a pain in the ass.
 
Since you are using GeneratePress, and they have built GenerateBlocks - a lightweight WordPress Block plugin that is not an alternative to Elementor but you can give a try (free version). It's great.
 
Elementor actually suck, Never used them. Just do my own HTML and CSS, usually works better. Elementor is slow and sometimes buggy as well
 
I built a lot of sites with Elementor Pro but I realized that I could use the free version and a plugin like Essential Addons to do what I wanted.
Then, I tried Oxygen Builder. Better control, faster and better license. Really a pleasure to use.
Now, I am starting to gravitate towards doing everything in Blocks. I can still use Oxygen Builder for the home page if I want.
I just picked up GeneratePress and that along with Blocks and a few Block Plugins might be what I end up with.
Simple to me is better.

By the way, you do not have to be a techie to use Oxygen Builder. Play a few of the basic video tutorials, use their large library of blocks and just modify them. You will be amazed at how fast a site comes together. Plus, you can drop out of warp to WP Blocks when you need to.

I would prefer NextJs as you can pick SSR or CSR, or static, plus has great SEO, also Strapi for headless CMS that is super easy to learn
