So instagram just updated few days ago and now they open the link from their in-app browser. So if you are doing affiliate marketing and it stores the cookies for 30 days. Then I think it is of no use because cookies will be stored in their in-app browser. People who will purchase it at that particular moment will get converted otherwise they won't. Is it true?

What do you think will the cookies be stored in the actual browser or instagram's browser?

Please enlighten me.

what does the in-app browser look like?
on my galaxy tab, i click a link, and it pops up a dialog for me to choose between firefox and 'internet' which is my default browser. how do you get the in-app browser?

Update your IG maybe.

Haven't realized this yet. Wow, this is actually a game changer for a lot of people.

I want start with IG and Amazon, Aliexpress affiliate program

Now, doesnt work anymore? :S

@OP what are you even talking about? How does this make any difference?

Thaman he is talking about:

1. You share affiliate link in IG profile (bio)
2. Random follower of yours clicks the link
3. He sees your website (through new IG browser), gets your affiliate cookies (example amazon) in IG browser.
4. If he does not place order right there, closes the site and later opens amazon (in chrome/firefox), you DO NOT earn comission. (Cookies do not transfer)

It is a gamechanger for affiliate marketing.

This sounds like it makes no difference for CPI.

CPI is fine but if you are doing affiliate marketing then you won't be able to drop cookies. Which means instagram would not be suitable for affiliate marketing since a lot of cookies will be lost. I am never a fan of affiliate marketing anyhow as a lot of things are beyond our control.

Better to create your own ecommerce site and sell on instagram. At least you get paid upfront and there is not holding period. You get to handle your own customers as well.

I am using the most updated IG version, and it still directs me to a safari browser.

and what about their post ranking updates? its harder to gain followers than ever. and postrs with low interactions wont be shown to all users. I consider IG pretty much dead.

Just force people to visit your website by checking the Useragent of the user's browser and if it's IG's browser then have a link for people to click and force-open chrome/other browser.

Stop being such squares.
