Customer sent ~$13k instead of $23

Not only is it the right thing to do, but you'll earn his or her trust forever by giving it back. I know you'll do the right thing.

Ill tell u this man, mistakes happens but you taking the money its not a mistake anymore, its theft. You should allways ask yourself how would i feel if someone took 13k from me? Maybe he has kids, thats all his savings? Etc etc
13k$ isnt serious money that will change your wellbeing or your life.

This is the best answer. You would gain massive trust and have the benefit of repeat business and recommendation as they sing your praises.

If i was you i would keep the money if the customer dont send a mesage back .If he ask i would send the money .Maybe its a karma and that client dont deserve that money as maybe he do something bad to get them and thats way he lose it .and maybe the universe things you deserve the money and thats way it give it to you

Great way to justify stealing someone’s money

Just refund your customer and brighten their day. I once refunded a customer and he actually ended up buying more services from me.

Didn't know there's so many woo-woo people on BHW.
Do you guys even know what karma is? This thread makes me feel like someone doesn't understand Karman.

You are asking this do decide? Can't you make the decision on own?

As a lot of people have mentioned already! Do the right thing and refund him.

Karma is a biatch!

Thanks for all your responses. I'm happy to see the people here are good. In my opinion a refund is necessary, especially if the customer contacts me and asks politely (what she did the next day). The only problem was that Coinbase commerce charges 1% fees, so I had to transfer the seed from Coinbase to Electrum.

I thought a lot about the situation and checked a few things (I also tracked down the wallets from the customer). It seems the customer was using a mobile wallet, and she pressed the "Max" button by mistake. She literally sent all her funds. So, always make that you have not pressed the max button :P

Another funny thing I noticed: I checked her Facebook profile, and every post is about "crypto, financial freedom, crypto mom, crypto coach"....

Hey!

I have seen a lot throughout my entrepreneurial career, but this is even beyond my wildest dreams. Today, I woke up and noticed that a customer sent nearly $13k using BTC instead just $23. I'm using Coinbase Commerce.

What would you do in that situation? The customer has not messaged us yet. The transaction is confirmed since hours. We have processed his order (but it is only worth $23).

What services do you provide .

You are using Coinbase Commerce.. For tax purposes all incoming money requires an invoice or receipt backing the transaction
If you care about moral, business or law you should refund your customer. There's no chance of keeping this money without future trouble

EVERYONE SAY "REFUND"
BUT I SAY "NO REFUND"

Because many crypto wallets are temporary. Wait for message from your customer or ask him directly. To not send these funds into the limbo.
For example if he used something like coinmama or wallet with temporary BTC adress, you can vanish these funds.

Contact first

edit: I read that customer contacted with you, then it's ok
but everyone who will read it in future, wait or start contact before you do it ;) I made once refund from coinbase, but wallet was exchange wallet and customer not received funds
