Hey!

I have seen a lot throughout my entrepreneurial career, but this is even beyond my wildest dreams. Today, I woke up and noticed that a customer sent nearly $13k using BTC instead just $23. I'm using Coinbase Commerce.

What would you do in that situation? The customer has not messaged us yet. The transaction is confirmed since hours. We have processed his order (but it is only worth $23).

gamble it away before he asks!
contact him to let him know. was your question related to taxes? since it was a mistake transaction, if you return it as soon as he gives you the ok to do so, i would assume there wouldn't be any problems, tax-wise. i guess it depends on where you live and how much attention they pay to crypto transactions

I would refund, or ask him if he wants to spend all that on services

It's definitely better to make a refund than to keep that money.

After all, if he didn't notice 13k missing. He will probably after the refund do more business with you and even invest more money into it.

What comes around goes around.

I wouldn't keep that. That's not a 'come-up'. That's karma in the form of an axe that swung one way and will swing back your way if you don't do the right thing.

Business is business, don't be that guy.

I'd return it, as much as it's some nice money. Karma is too much of a bitch

I have had 2 same situations in my life.

There was a company that allowed me to use their services for a whole month. At the end of the month, I would pay all. Just like a credit card.
One month they send me an invoice of 4.5k Euro. I was keeping track of everything and the real due amount was 5.5k Euro.
I just send them 5.5k Euro and told them to make their calculations again.
They didn't even say Thank you, lol

The second one was the same as your case. I send an invoice of $550 and the company wired me $5.5k lol.
Due to the banking and law regulations in my country, I took me 2 weeks to fix this shit and send him back his money.

Result: I lost that client lol

Even though my bad experiences I would never keep what is not mine.
Will always send it back!

Do the right thing and refund him, you don't know if he needs this money to feed his children
