and for what reason would that be i have not seen the method mentioned here before ????

because some methods are not worth burning ;) anyways this is almost dead method now but year or so ago.. that was heaven ;)

I`ve try out finding MU by using serpscraper. Only a few sites can let u set your own blog so far.

It's would be great if you post your finding here so it will
shorten our effort to find one.

Cheers

Hey mates,

I just wanted to tell you, that there's some point into finding those links, as the different searches will return different results, of course some of the results will match in every search but ... it's better than nothing.

So I used this search in google:
Code:
inurl:"edu" + "powered by WordPress MU"
I know it's pretty broad, but it returned a good amount of Results - 3 160 000

So I went from page 1 to page 10 and scraped the live registration results.

I got 27 urls, and that's pretty good for 30 mins work (I know it's slow)

If someone can give better searching pattern, which will return good amount of results we can build a very juicy list...

Here are my results, so eveyone can use them:

Oh, and about the person who posted above me, why don't you share something, instead of asking others to share?

Cheers,
Mythos

Out of the list above only about 8 accepted a .com domain for the email and out of those, I have not received a welcome/verification email for signing up for a blog.

Sorry, I hope that did not sound like I was complaining. Definitely not my intentions. Here are the blogs that let me insert a .com domain. Still have not received a welcome email.

They require you to be manually placed into the systems, the EDU's will not work. The only possible solution? Fork a college student some money for the details for a valid .edu email address. Also keep in mind this student must also have the email address passed by administration. They require students to write out nothing short of a novel on why they want to use the blog and how it will benefit the school.

not true. MANY MANY places give alumnie an .edu adress as well

hmm the plot thickens on this one not sure if it was a good idea, we really do not seem to get the final answer

How many .edu links can you have linking back to any single website?

I tried my email with a .edu domain from my college school. Still not getting any confirmation. :(

well at least you tried seems they have closed the door unless you have an email address from the same university, at least we had some fun trying this out.

Guys - tried a few of these too - seems just not gonna work that easy. Perhaps its just easier to find .edu blogs and make comments on them - that has worked for me in the past and in general its less stringent about .edu email. Yes, most are moderated but if your comment is a good one it will usually get posted. In general you will be limited to the link in your name, most back links in the text are never approved (especially about viagra lol).

OR BHW registers as a school with the govt, gets .edu domain (haha www.blackhatworld.edu) and we all get our emails and blogs ...)

Ok now its up to Diamond Dave ....

Quick question: In the UK, universities are usually registered as a .gov.uk. Does this carry as much weight as a .edu? Obviously, it might just be best for UK targets. I'm gonna get in touch with my friends to see what their uni's policy is on blogs etc.

University in UK use the ac.uk domain. You can google footprint "site:.ac.uk" for the list of university websites.

Unfortunately most EDU and AC.UK sites for that matter now require you to register for a new blog with an email address from said university. I've lost a great deal of my edu blogs, down to just a handful :(

Thanks lavardez and Smartalex, have no fear. I might have a very easy way into UK universities. Give me a few days and I'll see what I can do.
