just quit smoking and using energy boosters right now!!

I would suggest to have a cigarette pack at home - just for the occasions in parties when you get drunk (you don't want to look like a beggar if you need just 1/3 cigarette)

I know you have been a long time poster here and took a break. I really do hope you watch out for your health. I was trying to think how to help and I came across this thread so maybe it could be of some motivation

Thanks. I will check that out :D

Dude, you got to cut this out and start now. I did it and it is hard, but doable if you stay motivated. Now, I am off caffeine and cigarettes and hardly ever drink a soft drink. I actually find them quite disgusting now. I caution you to start slow instead of trying to quit all at once. That way you do not feel like crap and start being an ass due to coming off all these stimulants at once. Also, I have heard that too much change to soon can be bad for you as well. Start exercising now. Start with walks and gradually move up to jogging. Pace yourself and work yourself up at what works for you.

Start with the caffeine and high fructose syrup. Start drinking diet caffeine free drinks to get yourself weened off the caffeine and the high fructose and start introducing yourself to water. After a couple of weeks, start gradually replacing soft drinks with water.

After you get off the drinks, get off the nicotine. Cold turkey is the way to go. Tuff it out. No patches or pills, you are replacing one form of nicotine with another. Just quit. Having someone who can quit with you will help, you can be an accountability partner for each other. Good luck

I almost died this last summer from energy drinks. I had just pounded down a big monster and about 20mins later I was curled up on the kitchen floor. My blood pressure spiked to over 250/140 and I spent a good bit of time in the ICU :/

Stop with the crazy caffeine and fuck man stop smoking. Everyone knows that shit is death in a box.

I never drank that much carbonated beverages but still used to drink pop/alcohol more than I should have. Well I wanted to get healthy so I decided to change some habits...now all I drink is water... occasional rootbeer/pepsi/coke with meals (maybe once a week) but usually 48oz of water daily. Sugarfree rockstar... just one of those a day and when my crash comes I will take a cat nap and then try and do some exercise... not intense either.. only cardio (3miles) on elyptical

now I could never drink more than a 12oz pop in one day and I also don't drink alcohol that much either

edit: I do smoke weed daily, and that helps a bunch... people always get the wrong idea and think that when I say I smoke daily that i'm high all day! I usually take a few hits in the early morning and drink my rockstar for a boost and motivation. I do smoke throughout the day but it's still usually just a small amount. My girlfriend smokes more than me which is funny but I can't complain as she takes care of all her responsibilities!

One thing's for sure, putting all that junk inside your body is not going to be good for you.

OP your fucking disgusting, get a grip of your self man, putting all that shit in your body, you don't give two fucks, and noone else is gonna give a fuck, not a doctor, not anyone on this forum, your the only person who is going to care, so get moving, what the fuck are you waiting for?

Are you serious?? Im rattling and shaking off just 1 red bull, im a bit sensitive to caffine it does give you heart palpatations. Its really unhealth try and stay clear of it.

You need to start by replacing the addictions with 2 healthier alternatives. Try drinking green tea. My father would drink tons of Mountain dew everyday, and now I got him drinking green tea instead. Its way better for you than soda. In regards to smoking, that's the worst thing you can do to your body. I know you know this, your doctors probably already tell you that. Try slowly smoking less every day. Don't quit cold-turkey. I like to compare nicotine to a hardcore prescription medication. If you quit cold turkey, there will be nasty withdrawal effects.

So my advice is:
A) Replace Dr.Pepper with Green Tea or healthier alternative
B) Slowly decrease the amount you smoke each day
C) Maintain proper nutrition
D) Exercise!

Good luck. Any change in life is difficult, but you can do it.

I will check that out, thanks :D

I know that feeling, I have 8 kids, and I want to see them when they make it this far in life. Hopefully I can come up with the will power to quit.

Couldn't help to not miss that part. You have 8 children and you are only 32? Dude, both you and your girl need to get a damn TV lol.

Jokes aside, you have to quit all those bad habits as soon as possible. You heart and lungs wont be able to take such punishment much longer. And by what you tell about your relatives causes of death, you may very well have a genetic predisposition to heart pathologies, which makes your need to change your habits even more urgent. Being a med student in his final years and a fitness and sports fanatic, I can assure you that once you start eating healthy, set aside the cigarretes and start exercising regularly , you will notice the tremendous positive impact spread through all your life aspects. Its gonna be hard for sure, especially if you have been a smoker and caffeine consumer for many years, cause Withdraw symptoms are a BITCH. But after you go through that tough initial phase, all will be smoother and easier.

Bro, you need to get off the energy drinks and cut back on the coffee.... I used to down 4 to 5 redbulls a day as well as a few cups of coffee and I a matter of a few years developed panic attacks and they suck. As soon as I cut back the caffeine, the panic attacks rarely come. I cut back coffee to 1 cup a day and only smoke about 5 cigarettes a day. I also walk about 4 miles a day.

Don't try and slow down cold turkey but slowly cut back.... Good Luck

It's amazing what happens when you clear your system of all that. I drank coffee for years and then when I got on my own schedule (doing IM instead of working for others) I was able to quit.

Now, I only drink coffee on occasion as a treat, and I can feel the effects immediately. The caffeine works way better on me now and it's much cheaper. Go cold turkey for a weekend if you can and then reintroduce some of that slowly, then work your way down. You won't regret it.

Stop the smoking. It's a HORRIBLE habit & has to be nasty. Put the money towards your entrepreneurship instead or your kids.

The panic attacks that come from too much caffeine might be a warning of heartattacks down the road. I read somewhere that the strongest energy drink of them all is Starbucks coffee. Regular Starbucks has twice the caffeine of Redbull . Both of them weaken the heart.

You are on your way to a heart attack. You are stimulating your heart to work harder. You are responsible for your body and your choices.

Basically chemical balance in the body = good or bad mood. However your body will adapt, stop drinking shit it'll be hard however you can do it, smoking is a risk factor however is not nearly as bad as what you are drinking so get rid of drink first.

My advice is just to stop cold turkey, drink water or squash/OJ instead. Its worth it, you'll sleep better, concentrate easier, and have more energy.

Energy drinks like RedBull are not good for your health. Imagine your heart as a machine with a low/medium and high state, energy drinks force the heart to stay between medium and high, when naturally it would switch wisely depending on the effort. If you add to that nicotine -------> high blood pressure ----> higher risk of heart attack <------ family history.

Another thing about nicotine. One drop of pure nicotine kills instantly without a trace. It doesn't show up in bloodstream either. Organic tobacco doesn't do this if you want to roll your own. Quitting is the best but rolling your own is better than Russian Roulette with ordinary cigarettes.

All the responses are great, but probably not necessary.
From your OP, you know what you have to do. You just don't want to - which is understandable.
I quit a 2-3 pack a day 30 year habit by focusing on the fact that I wanted to see my little girl grow up, and to be there for her, more than I wanted to smoke. It was the first time I ever had something important enough to make me want to quit smoking.
What you need to do is focus on what you want MORE than the energy drinks, the smoking, etc. --- and focus on that. In my experience, that's the only real motivation that works.
