Copyright Infringement Google Question???

So, there is one guy who emailed me and reported me at Google because he says that I copied his article. However, I only use his website as one of my references. Our topic is almost the same, but the body of my article is vastly different from his website. I get an idea from his site but what I have written is very different from his site. Some of our subheadings have some simillarities, but I rephrased the sub-headings.

I want to ask if it is against the google policy, because as far as I know, it isn't. Hoping for your kind answers :)

He already reported me. What do you think should I do next? Maybe he is just afraid that I can defeat his articles in ranking LMAO. I wrote 4000 words and he wrote 2000 words only on that certain topicc :p:p
 
Just settle it by mentioning him or his website in your article. You'll be fine.

Yes, I emailed him already. But if he insisted, then I think his case is weak because I didn't copy his whole articles.

If you are really original it will be pointless.

Funny story actually, let me tell you. We both started the site last year but he started 2 months earlier than me. Based on SEOquake he started april 2020 while me, I started July 2020. I see that he is already ranking and I email him last August 2020. the time my site is new, if I could submit a guest post and he didn't replied on my email. Now that I am ranking more keywords than him, he replied. Well, let's say his the first one initiating now. LMAO :D:D:D

Google needs to check if the claims are valid or not. As per Google's policy:
"If we receive a valid infringement notification identifying content associated with your work, it will be removed and you may receive a strike."
