Hi all, I am planning to get some domains from porkbun. I did some research and came up with some domain names but almost all the .COMS are taken. I have seen the .com websites already and they don't pose any threat as I know my content will be better. So should I go with .NET or continue looking for .COM.... all this is from the SEO point of view...
Thanks

It's not very important. If .com all .com is taken just go with .net.

In this case, you can go with .net
.com domain is crucial for branding purposes, not for SEO

Branding is much more than getting a .com domain...

Take whatever you want, if you want branding you can do it with differents ways, if you're worried about the SEO the domains is not relevant (Don'tlike before)

Sorry for the English!!

This is an eternal debate. If your domain is strong, short and easy to remember then go for .net.

if you're doing blackhat stuff, any extension would do I think, but if it's a site people know it's yours better go with .com
Its gonna be a blog with AdSense and maybe Amazon affiliates later on. I have already bought a .net domain and its quite easy to remember and has 2 words only.

.com in general looks more trustable but 2 words .net domain sounds professional as well. Extension doesn't matter for rankIng, some of my new xyz, biz, me, info domains are ranking in just 7-14 days, no sandbox issue.

.com or .io for something techy only if there's any kind of consideration for branding at all. If you're only worried about SEO and creating pages that rank and it's not about building an brand at all then .net is fine if the domain is better than whatever corresponding .com you can secure (bookstore.net would be better than onlinestoreforbooks.com), but afaik .com vs. .net could impact things like CTR as well.

For SEO, doesn't matter, AFAIK.

This is very broad advice, since I don't know what you're doing. I have some domain experience. In terms of domains, .com is preferred, except for charity, go for .org. .net is fine for business. The other ones can wind up getting blocked sometimes by anti-malware or chrome. CC TLD are fine for the country (esp FR, UK). In niche situations sometimes the others work (e.g. .io for dev), but typically best bet is .com. Unless you already have a trademark, I'd change the name or purchase via broker (I use sedo usually). You want the .com, .net and .org for branding. You want 7 letters or less. Avoid dashes or numbers except Chinese market. China, numbers are very common.

I started a tech news site with a .com domain name, then got bored and drifted away. When I came back, my .com expired and someone else was sitting on it. This time, however, I was interested in launching and running the site for real so I purchased the .net and began. Traffic and followers built up, SEO started doing well and soon the .net was doing really well. Good enough that it established a brand and when the person sitting on the .com got bored and let it expire years down the road I snapped it back up and redirected it to my .net.

I always suggest .com if you want to build a long term brand. If you're comfortable in adding some prefix or suffix like 'the' 'a' etc. then try and get .com with the same keywords that you wanted. .net is not a bad tld but .com is still the king.

I am ranking good with .llc :) As i can not get .com, now i am going with .net - 3 words .com's priced $10k+ - WTF ?
As you can get for registration price same .net's

For SEO it’s doesn’t matter if it’s .com / .net or .xyz It just comes down to trust with .com being the most recognisable and trusted TDL but .net would be second and would be totally fine to use. But .com or .net won’t effect your SEO at all.

Depends (My personal opinion).

Com/Net/Org/Whatever if it is worth (earning money that is).

Com & Net & Org (atleast, if not my gtld too) if it's going to be my "long term" business.
