Hey guys, I registered my first ever site to HostGator for single domain and hosting using a coupon and the charge is $10.95 every month.
Is this price ok or should I look somewhere else too? I've seen somewhere something like $10/year with coupons and stuff like that but because I'm totally new to this I get confused.

I'd really like your recommendations.
Thanks!

Really depends on the plan that you are on. If you are allowed to have just one domain on it or you can set up several.

Most host will advertise a real cheap price to get you to come to them but thats like paying 3 years upfront. On avg you are looking around 8.99 to 12.99 for regular hosting price.

The main question would be support are they going to be able to help you if you have issues with your site. That's the key.

So you say that the price is ok.

My plan is:

Shared / Hatchling

which I think it's their most basic one with one single domain.
I registered at them because of their supposed credibility and name over the years.
I had some issues and I can't say that they were very helpful but anyway.

You could check out StableHost. They're well reputed in Shared Hosting industry. They're having 50% promotion for yearly plan right now which is just $47.70/year for their unlimited pro plan.

Ok, but how can my whole site be transferred to the other company if I want to go elsewhere? Is it simple?

Most hosting provider will offer free full site migration for you. Just contacting them to migrate for you.

Ok, thanks for the info.
Damn, I can't find the link but I read somewhere something about ~$10/year, do you think these kind promotions/coupons may be scam?

Check out interserver. $4.95 monthly unlimited. But IMO hostgator is better because the speed & customer service are better.

I'm pretty sure Dreamhost is cheaper as well.

Hostgator is biggest shit of hosting!

5 visitors only and server is temporarily unavailable!!

I got a 85% off deal so I got a $100+ deal for only $20~$30... They are super good as I have around 20 websites hosted in the baby plan and I still get super fast speed.

Thanks for the all the info guys!
Please post more :)

Check out web hosting offer in WHT; there are hosts that could give you ~$10/year plan.

P.S: I don't recommend hosting with such a cheap host. You get what you pay for!

Yes its normal price for shared hosting with unlimited addon domains. If you building a serious website stay away from $10/year hosts, they can go down anytime and if you haven't done your own backups you will loose your website.

You should go for others. In my opinion, $10 per month is too much for a starter website.

You are right. But there are other hosts out there which are well known and they still offer less than $10 per month.

I've had good experience with hosting providers which is price about $4 - $5 per month. Yet, for hosting providers that are cheaper than that I never had good luck with them at all. That's just my experience hosting with several cheap hosting providers such ~$10 or something hosts!

I think it's not ok and it's not cheap for that type of plan. You can have nice VPS for this money.

Have you checked GoDaddy?Thats also one of the good provider imo.
