case study with gambling traffic

Aloha guys,

currently I'm on a case study on how to convert paid gambling traffic from webtrafficgeeks (not my site).
I get around 400 visits a day from the united kingdom.

I tried to content lock a betting strategy which netted me 0.03$ and this after I tweaked it for higher CTR.
So content locking is not working with this traffic, or at least my approach. Promoting casinos and casino bonus offers also did nothing.

I moved to clickbank and tried to promote the bonus bagging program and the sports cash program. I tested and tested. On one day I tried the approach of a detailed review about the systems, on the other I tried to go short ("GET THIS METHOD, BECAUSE IT WILL MAKE YOU RICH AF") and put a link. The short approach worked way better regarding CTR than the review approach. In the end I got many hops but zero sales. See screenshot



Since I'm getting guaranteed visitors which are into gambling (it's the niche I selected, so I hope they are ). My next approach which I'm installing today is to gather E-Mails, so at least I can build a list. Do you have any ideas what else I could try?

Build a list!!!

It's by far your best choice.

Install a heatmap and see if people are actually clicking around on your page and interacting. Next would be to look at the server logs and type the ips into google search, see if they are proxy or bot. The first thing you should have on your site are tracking cookies and something similar to cpvlab to see where the traffic is coming from. Finally, I'd go to the ips that are referring my traffic and make sure that they aren't just distributing it via a hidden iframe. The traffic I have gotten from WTG has been fair quality, I have gotten sales from the traffic, but its very low sales percentage for Amazon sites (less than 0.5% on 27.5k package).

Here are the results for the second wave of traffic for the same method since I had to go to work and didn't have to time to change it..



Almost 100% of my todays traffic clicked on the link... Well there's that. But as you can see no sales.
I'll change the link to an email opt-in. If they are still a little interested in the product I should get at least a few emails a day.

I'm installing a heatmap and will analyze the traffic and will report back tomorow

So I just checked my visitors/click ratio and got 720 visitors and 740 hops. I've no clue how that can happen.

Not all of the traffic shows up in GA, but I'd like a report back if you found out anything fake or interesting to share about the traffic.

Check your stats for the browsers that are being used by your traffic. If you have a high number of hits from IE that would be suspect.

Your Best option is to sign up as an affiliate for the bookmakers.

They offer anything up to 35% recurring lifetime commission based on everything the user loses. Plus you could get CPA with the bookies for Poker / Casino Sign Ups.

This can generate some great commission. Plus once they have signed up, they are yours for life (hopefully high rollers also)

Here's the big update.


These are the "revenues" I got from this case study.
As you can see I'd let clickbank run a little longer (2 days) to show you how it's really not working.

So I changed the concept once again added a revenuehits ad above my clickable link which I changed to a shortened url (shorte.st) so my visitors had to click on something that brings me money.

Since they always clicked on my links I figured that it would make me at least a few pennies.
Here are the results:



As you can see 1% of visitors clicked on the shortened link. Down from 99% who clicked on my link while it was not shortened.

Let's head to google analytics for more a detailed look on the traffic.


Bouncerate is around 75%.
Most used browser is internet explorer.
And they stay on my site less than 10seconds.

Make with that information what you will.

I had really high hopes for the traffic von webtrafficgeeks since it's also priced significantly higher than other traffic providers.
From which I received better results tbh. (10k visitors spread over a month from a different source brought me 10bucks a day with a similar concept.)

I'll mail this thread to the wtg support and maybe we'll get a answer.
So long I will apply what dprayer1 suggested plus adding a email sign up form.
Honestly I doubt that it will change something.

The contactform on their website is broken and their email adress returns a 505 error. Great.

I have did a little research about them in the past and seems like it's bots traffic so I wouldn't expect any profit from it. Actually I would cut in your place asap.

Search for the webtrafficgeeks thread and pm the author to respond here. Also, it seems that he has changed some of the traffic since I tested it (I don't announce my BHW user name when I purchase products). The most recent guy to use the traffic reported that his ctr was below 1.5%. As for the ips, trace them in Google search, also trace the ips that are the "referrers" and see if its just simple iframe traffic or what. I feel embarrassed because recently I referred 2 clientele to the traffic source for their Adsense sites (their criteria was cheap traffic with customer support). Looks like I will not be doing any business with them again unless they change their quality of traffic.

So guys, sorry for the late update.

I tried to contact the wtg support on all possible ways which all failed, so I reached out to them via paypal and asked for a refund since the traffic still converted like shit (in all possible ways).

I asked for a complete return and got an answer today where they offered me 50% money back out of good will since I recieved the same traffic as a million other happy costumers or something along those lines.

My personal fazit is that the traffic from webtrafficgeeks is not worth the much higher price. And I won't order there again.
But feel free to test them out yourself since it's always possible that I'm just extremly shitty at IM...

Casino offers work if you are getting casino offers traffic. I have a site for offers, and people who land on it are looking for offers therefore it converts, and it converts well.

Maybe you just didn't put anything of actual value in front of these leads, but it does seem a bit fishy to have visits/clicks on one link, and then get none on the other links. I'd tell WTG to just refund the full purchase price. Further if you do research it at all and can prove they sent you complete garbage traffic(which is what I think happened), then I'd basically demand the refund. The fact that they offered you a 50% refund out of good will implies they know they underperformed in this situation at a minimum, and more likely - simply scammed you.

I tried them a few weeks back and I was seeing 50 - 100% of the traffic that landed on my site click on outbound links. I dunno, that kinda seemed strange to me.

I'm considering using them again, but this time I'll ask them NOT to send me their shitty internet explorer traffic. I believe their I.E traffic is suspect.

Your traffic is shit, simple as that. For some casino brands I am getting 50% sign up to clicks. This is for well reputated casino brands for playing keywords. Stop pissing round with ClickBank shite. People who want to gamble want to gamble not see some fucking retarded get rich quick bollocks ClickBank shit.

Someone searches Play Fucking Roulette Online the want to play fucking roulette online. Show them where to play, a place they have heard of, a place they know is reputable, and they will play fucking roulette online. People who wank around with click bank shite and so on have obviously never been gamblers.
