:pirate:Hello fellow BHWers are you ready for a long read?:pirate:

Alright, so I'm doing a case study/journal to see how many clients I can get using the popular platform, Facebook. This is a 30 day case study, so we'll see how many clients I can aquire by October 6th, 2011. I've been wanting to try this for awhile, and now I have the time, it's using the same principle idea as a recent Member Downloaded shared here, called SWAT Lead Generation.

I'll try to provide you with as much information as possible (hopefully giving two updates per day, beginning of work day, and end of work day), including what I am doing and any services I am using, which may include me linking to them, none are affiliate links.

My Background (Skip If You Don't Care)

Since the age of 16, I have worked online, mostly doing Web Development and SEO. That business has provided me two cars, the money I need to play, and a nice 6 month vacation after graduating high school early. But if any of you do either of them, it does take some work (even with automated tools), more hours than I would like to spend working. So, the three services that I'll be offering clients can be setup in less than 30 minutes each, and a very low maintenance time.

    The Goal (No More Skipping)
    1. To have as low as capital as possible, so more people can attempt it
    2. No set $$$/month goal, the more clients the merrier.
    3. To setup a business that once working, can be outsourced, less work more play!
    4. To see just how well you can find clients on Facebook

    What I'll Be Selling

I'll be selling 3 services to clients, all have residual income.

    They are:

    1. SMS Text Messaging (??? Setup, $247/month)
    2. Mobile Websites ($249 Setup, $25/Month)
    3. Video Marketing ($217 Setup, $10/Month)
Note: Price points are just a guess, I'll have to feel around with the prospects, but these are prices I came up with after researching clients.

    Services Brief
    SMS Text Messaging:
I'll be using the reseller service by Txt180, it's the best one I have found, and it can be white-labeled, you can probably get away not using their white-labeled services, but I'm going to use it.

    Cost
I'll start clients out at the 2500 message/month, which will be a cost of $50 dollars to me. I'll also have a cost of $14.95 dollars to get a keyword and 500 messages from them, because I don't want to buy into the reseller program until I get a client.

    Mobile Websites:
Offering Mobile Websites to businesses is a semi-new offline service people are offering, and I believe in it. I'll be using my own platform (I'll share in the Members Download section when it's completed), that will work for real estate and restaurants, as well as any other business.

    Cost
As this is my own platform, there is no cost to me besides hosting (Hostgator Baby Plan)

    Video Marketing
I wasn't originally going to do this idea, the cost of doing marketing this way means I'm going to prospect less clients using this method, and will mainly focus on SMS and Mobile websites, unless I have good results then I'll put a little more money behind it.

    Cost
Haven't worked up the price per prospect just yet, will update when I figure it out.

    Cost Breakdown
Here I'll be listening the cost to start the business and keep it running.

    1. Domain - Namecheap - $9.28 / Year
    2. Hosting - Hostgator - $7.96 / Month
    3. 10 Facebook PVA Accounts - AccountHeadQuarters - $22 (You might be able to find a better deal, but I needed the accounts immediately at the time)
    4. 500 Texts / Month - Txt180 - $14.95 / Month
    5. Country Radio To Help Pass The Time - Free Online - $0 / Month :D
The only remaining cost I see now is the video marketing part, I'll get a price point soon.

    Total Cost: $54.19

How The SWAT Lead Generation Works
This is a short summary of how SWAT Lead Generation works. Basically you have multiple Facebook accounts, you send the "Dummy Account" to comment on the business, tell everyone it's great and has awesome service/food/houses/whatever.

Then the second account the "Problem Account" comes in (a day or so later) and comments ON the Dummy Account's comment, agreeing that the food/service/house/whatever is awesome and that they would recommend it. But the "Problem Account" also drops a suggestion to the Page (If the page is a default basic page, then it's most likely the owner, if it's a fancy page, probably a firm working for the owner, and I'll skip those) owner that the "Problem Account" wishes that the business had some mobile website, or SMS coupon service, or that they had a hard time finding them on Google (So we'd sell the video service)

Then the third and final account, the "Sniper Account" as SWAT Lead Generation puts it, comes and posts a video offering the service that the "Problem Account" recommended 3-5 days AFTER the "Problem Account", I'll judge the time frame based on how active the page is. Leave my contact number and Skype name in the comment area.

I might do a little more work and use the rest of the accounts to like the "Problem Account"'s comment, we'll just have to see if it's necessary.

    Managing The Leads

As any method goes, leads are the most important thing. I don't know the manageable amount of Facebook pages to keep up with and how many clients will convert, so I'll start at 50 and increase/decrease as needed.

That means as time goes on I'll be commenting up to 150 pages in a single day and dealing with clients.

    Example:

    • Day 1 : 50 Leads For Dummy Account To Comment
    • Day 2 : 50 Leads For Dummy + 50 Leads From Day 1 For Problem Account To Comment
    • Day 3 : 50 Leads For Dummy + 50 Leads From Day 2 For Problem
    • Day 4 : 50 Leads For Dummy + 50 Leads From Day 3 For Problem + 50 Leads From Day 1 For Sniper Account
    • Day 5 : 50 Leads For Dummy + 50 Leads From Day 4 For Problem + 50 Leads From Day 2 Sniper + 50 Clients From Day 4:pirate: (Just kidding, but whatever clients I would have to deal with)
Now all three profiles will look like a real account, name and profile picture, but they'll be set to private and will only be friends with each other, this way I'll be able to manage comments on pages easier.

Spreadsheet would become to cumbersome, have created a Facebook Lead Manager, read about it here:

    FAQs

Feel free to ask me questions via replies (No PMs please), I'll post frequent questions in this thread.
    ____________________________________________________________

    Day 1 (Start of Day):
It's a late start, it's 2:30 PM here but the great thing about this is you really don't have to work within X:XX and X:XX hours. To easily manage multiple Facebook accounts, I'll be using Firefox with the Addon called 'Cookie Swap'.

My two main concerns today are to make first contact with 50 leads and then to start coding the Mobile Website platform. For these leads I'll be splitting them 25/25, part for SMS and part for Mobile websites.

    Hi imprint,
    This sounds fantastic :)

Forgive me, I'm useless with fb but want to learn.

I have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering I'd be very grateful:

    • So will the, dummy, problem & sniper be posting comments onto other people's business pages?
    • If this is the case won't the owner of the page just remove them - or is that the real magic - in the way you word the comments?
    • How do you use the 10 pva's - do you have 2/3 each of the dummy, problem & sniper?

    Thank you

    Day 1 (End)
Well, I ended up collecting 62, was going for 50 but overshot a little :p. I was storing them in the spreadsheet that I provided above but I came up with a different solution for that, I'll tell in a minute.

Anyways, collected the 62 leads, made first contact with them (Dummy Comment). Not sure which of the three services I'll be using, but all of them are chiropractors. Anyone have a suggestion?

    My Facebook Lead Manager

Well, like I said in my beginning post, if at a time I found that the spreadsheet wasn't going to work, then I'd code something up. Well, about 6 hours after starting, I have finished this little project. It is an easy way to manage your potential leads, and also tell what date you posted specific comments.

    Features:

    1. Create Unlimited Categories
    2. Add Unlimited Leads To Categories
    3. Duplicate Leads Are Automatically Deleted
    4. View Stats Broke Down to Total Leads, Amount of Comments Posted In Each Stage (Amount by Dummy Account, Amount by Problem Account, Amount by Sniper Account)
    5. Easy To Install, Just Upload Files to a PHP Server And Start to Use!
Note: Since this particular script isn't going to be 'public' per say, I didn't really worry about security you should be the only one seeing it on your server, or whoever you outsource to.

    Thanks!

Thanks. Mobile platform will hopefully be completed by Friday, though I haven't started on it, so we'll see how it goes :p.

Facebook Lead Generation has been something I wanted to try for a while, and SWAT gave me the extra boost. It's a pretty good read, if you want the video marketing ebook he talks about in it, PM me and I'll post it in the Member Downloads, it's good too.

Well, this Case Study is for all of to learn from, guess I should have mentioned I never messed with Facebook before either (From a marketing standpoint). All questions are fine, and will be answered if possible.

    Thanks. Check back!

I'll check back on this thread tomorrow morning, after the gym, going to collect 75 contacts and make first contact (Dummy Account) with them, while following up with second contact (Problem Account) on the first 62.

This is a cool idea, good luck man. I kinda wanna try getting in contact with people in my area to do mobile websites and sms I have a website and such as well..

I would advise you to read the "Mobile Marketing" section. Lots of information there, and try twilio for "long codes" that would be cheaper for the smaller businesses. Less cost to you!

Don't limit yourself just to your local area, tons of places to gather leads to make contact.

I'm going to explain why I haven't opted for Twilio (I've searched a LONG time, couple months, looking for the best platform) for a couple of reasons. Twilio is just an API, that means I'd have to spend time creating and maintaining the software
for my clients to use, while I have no problem doing this, Txt180 already offers a good service at a cheap price, so no need to unnecessarily invent the wheel. Second is that Twilio is using "long codes", and while it's not really a problem, I believe that while SMS marketing is still new to people, I think it'll be easier to market shortcode to business owners. Thirdly, there is a price difference of $20 bucks, it's not that big of a loss to me, figuring that I'd spend more time (time = money) on maintaining my system then the $20 bucks is worth.

    Thanks for your comments though!

I'll try to update atleast twice per day.

Dangit, lol I bought a domain name that's my area.

You can use the SMS Wordpress Plugin...

    $20 more? It's like $250 to start!

Yeah, but you won't have that cost until you get a client. Once you get a client, you have the setup fee and then you have the monthly fee.

In regards to the SMS Wordpress Plugin, if I can remember right, it's more work (like number and carrier) and people can't truly text in from their cell phones. What we want customers to be able to do is text you know something like 'freepizza' to 645432 and then get a coupon for that free pizza. Which also adds them to the mailing list so the business can contact them once a week.

imprint - Nice job starting to implement this. I'm working on the same sort of plan as well. You might want to look at the WP/Twilio plugin located here:

    Code:
    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/member-downloads/341403-get-wso-wordpress-sms-plugin.html
Not a lot of work involved (uploading the plugin and setting up the connections is about it), no upfront costs and you can give the client $30 of twilio's money to play around with instead of $30 of your own...

    Day Two

Today, I just worked on gathering more leads, got a total of 415 now. I didn't comment on any pages, because by time I would use the Sniper Account, it would be a Saturday or Sunday, and I'm wanting to comment on Business Days to hopefully increase my chance of the owner reading it.

So, now I am working on the Mobile Website Platform and after thinking it out more, I'm going to Twilio. Mainly because I can sale my platform easier to Realtors and Restaurants. You can check on that progress in Mobile Marketing section.

Tomorrow, I plan to continue working on the Website Platform, and collecting another 200 to 300 leads.

    Thanks bud.
