Alright, so I'm doing a case study/journal to see how many clients I can get using the popular platform, Facebook. This is a 30 day case study, so we'll see how many clients I can aquire by October 6th, 2011. I've been wanting to try this for awhile, and now I have the time, it's using the same principle idea as a recent Member Downloaded shared here, called SWAT Lead Generation.
I'll try to provide you with as much information as possible (hopefully giving two updates per day, beginning of work day, and end of work day), including what I am doing and any services I am using, which may include me linking to them, none are affiliate links.
My Background (Skip If You Don't Care)
Since the age of 16, I have worked online, mostly doing Web Development and SEO. That business has provided me two cars, the money I need to play, and a nice 6 month vacation after graduating high school early. But if any of you do either of them, it does take some work (even with automated tools), more hours than I would like to spend working. So, the three services that I'll be offering clients can be setup in less than 30 minutes each, and a very low maintenance time.
The Goal (No More Skipping)
- To have as low as capital as possible, so more people can attempt it
- No set $$$/month goal, the more clients the merrier.
- To setup a business that once working, can be outsourced, less work more play!
- To see just how well you can find clients on Facebook
What I'll Be Selling
I'll be selling 3 services to clients, all have residual income.
They are:
- SMS Text Messaging (??? Setup, $247/month)
- Mobile Websites ($249 Setup, $25/Month)
- Video Marketing ($217 Setup, $10/Month)
Services Brief
SMS Text Messaging:
I'll be using the reseller service by Txt180, it's the best one I have found, and it can be white-labeled, you can probably get away not using their white-labeled services, but I'm going to use it.
Cost
I'll start clients out at the 2500 message/month, which will be a cost of $50 dollars to me. I'll also have a cost of $14.95 dollars to get a keyword and 500 messages from them, because I don't want to buy into the reseller program until I get a client.
Mobile Websites:
Offering Mobile Websites to businesses is a semi-new offline service people are offering, and I believe in it. I'll be using my own platform (I'll share in the Members Download section when it's completed), that will work for real estate and restaurants, as well as any other business.
Cost
As this is my own platform, there is no cost to me besides hosting (Hostgator Baby Plan)
Video Marketing
I wasn't originally going to do this idea, the cost of doing marketing this way means I'm going to prospect less clients using this method, and will mainly focus on SMS and Mobile websites, unless I have good results then I'll put a little more money behind it.
Cost
Haven't worked up the price per prospect just yet, will update when I figure it out.
Cost Breakdown
Here I'll be listening the cost to start the business and keep it running.
- Domain - Namecheap - $9.28 / Year
- Hosting - Hostgator - $7.96 / Month
- 10 Facebook PVA Accounts - AccountHeadQuarters - $22 (You might be able to find a better deal, but I needed the accounts immediately at the time)
- 500 Texts / Month - Txt180 - $14.95 / Month
- Country Radio To Help Pass The Time - Free Online - $0 / Month
Total Cost: $54.19
How The SWAT Lead Generation Works
This is a short summary of how SWAT Lead Generation works. Basically you have multiple Facebook accounts, you send the "Dummy Account" to comment on the business, tell everyone it's great and has awesome service/food/houses/whatever.
Then the second account the "Problem Account" comes in (a day or so later) and comments ON the Dummy Account's comment, agreeing that the food/service/house/whatever is awesome and that they would recommend it. But the "Problem Account" also drops a suggestion to the Page (If the page is a default basic page, then it's most likely the owner, if it's a fancy page, probably a firm working for the owner, and I'll skip those) owner that the "Problem Account" wishes that the business had some mobile website, or SMS coupon service, or that they had a hard time finding them on Google (So we'd sell the video service)
Then the third and final account, the "Sniper Account" as SWAT Lead Generation puts it, comes and posts a video offering the service that the "Problem Account" recommended 3-5 days AFTER the "Problem Account", I'll judge the time frame based on how active the page is. Leave my contact number and Skype name in the comment area.
I might do a little more work and use the rest of the accounts to like the "Problem Account"'s comment, we'll just have to see if it's necessary.
Managing The Leads
As any method goes, leads are the most important thing. I don't know the manageable amount of Facebook pages to keep up with and how many clients will convert, so I'll start at 50 and increase/decrease as needed.
That means as time goes on I'll be commenting up to 150 pages in a single day and dealing with clients.
Example:
- Day 1 : 50 Leads For Dummy Account To Comment
- Day 2 : 50 Leads For Dummy + 50 Leads From Day 1 For Problem Account To Comment
- Day 3 : 50 Leads For Dummy + 50 Leads From Day 2 For Problem
- Day 4 : 50 Leads For Dummy + 50 Leads From Day 3 For Problem + 50 Leads From Day 1 For Sniper Account
- Day 5 : 50 Leads For Dummy + 50 Leads From Day 4 For Problem + 50 Leads From Day 2 Sniper + 50 Clients From Day 4
irate: (Just kidding, but whatever clients I would have to deal with)
Spreadsheet would become to cumbersome, have created a Facebook Lead Manager, read about it here:

FAQs
Feel free to ask me questions via replies (No PMs please), I'll post frequent questions in this thread.

Day 1 (Start of Day):
It's a late start, it's 2:30 PM here but the great thing about this is you really don't have to work within X:XX and X:XX hours. To easily manage multiple Facebook accounts, I'll be using Firefox with the Addon called 'Cookie Swap'.
My two main concerns today are to make first contact with 50 leads and then to start coding the Mobile Website platform. For these leads I'll be splitting them 25/25, part for SMS and part for Mobile websites.
