[CASE STUDY] Adwords vs Bing Ads Media Buy - EXACT SAME ADS, SAME $$ AMOUNT etc.

** UPDATE ***

Well guys my BINGS Ads are still up and running (been tweaking the $$$ CPC as needed to keep a high ad position) the CTR is comparable to google for sure - but overall costs are lower (due to volume not as high as google) i wouldn't say that a bad thing..since the leads seem to be more genuine. So far im pleased with BING over GOOGLE - but not only for media, but more their Live chat support.

ALSO BIG TIP FOR ALL NEWBIES / NEW ACCOUNT HOLDERS
= Open your new account, get on chat with support, tell them you tried a coupon code you got and it didn't work. They will add some funds into your account (they added $50 to mine, since the coupon codes currently available are USA only - i am in Canada)

That's great to hear. My study (but on organic traffic) is starting to come alive with many case studies pointing to Bing's search engine as having more buying-friendly users since I had a few clients saying they are more interested in ranking for Bing now since they get a lot more sales while they are top 3 in Bing. Although, I still think it depends on the niche but this is a pattern I have noticed more and more.

@OP: what kind of product are you promoting? How's bing with CPA and affiliate links?

Its all about landing page quality - you can hide aff links on the page - but make it a good site experience and it will pass. Also the higher QUALITY ranking you get, your CPC goes down. Each keyword will be given a QUALITY SCORE in relevance to the page so tweak as needed. I am now building custom pages for my most focused keywords to ensure it passes.

As for my products - sorry but thats a secret! ;)

*** FINAL UPDATE ***

Well I am back to report the performance from the GOOGLE and BING media buy I did

Both same keywords/ad groups, same daily spend, only SEARCH (no network)

I tried to keep the ad position the same as well to make it more compartive. There are tons of variables from each engines reach etc. But this was suppose to give us all some clarity on effectivness. please dont ask what niche it was - I cannot reveal that information.

OVERALL RESULTS:

Performance
: they were neck and neck, from clicks/CTR/COST. A few more impressions on Bing.
Ad positon - very close
Support/help: BING IS THE WINNER, their live chat support is so damn good, they do all the work for you, and offer great advise.
ROI - Google = 1 sale, BING 2 sales ($100+ product)

FINAL DECISION: If you are new to buying media - GO WITH BING, with their support its a great way to learn media buying. If your an expert I would use BOTH, as BING users and GOOGLE users are different, yes google has the most reach, but BING seems to be less flooded with "surfers" and more "buyers".

First, thanks for your study and sharing it with us.
In total, both networks had a negative ROI for you, right?

Edited - nevermind

Yes we can read. We wouldn't be on an internet forum if we couldn't read, would we?

Now, missing a bit of info, that's entirely a different issue. Thank you for pointing it out though.

Looks like its time to re-evaluate Bing PPC. Good work with this case study OP.

Great thread, thanks for sharing your experiences and data!

I give a huge vote to Bing.

Working with MS Ads for managing my PPC campaigns or for working with MS Ads Intelligence (an INVALUABLE Excel plugin if you do PPC) has been great.

Working with or communicating with Google is a nightmare.

Bing ALL THE WAY!

3 sold so that mean 300$+ and you invest only 60$? wow that fast making money :p

I tried my luck with bing for ads for a new service selling site of mine which has SEO & SMM services few weeks ago.But the conversion rate was very poor considering the impression. After reading your thread i am thinking may be i choose the wrong niche to promote on Bing!

You know it took a lot of tweaking - and still (as i started the media again) this time i changed my landing pages (before all clicks were driving to homepage which is a general about the niche) this time i made tailored pages to each ad group (so i now made 10 specific pages to these 10 ad groups) lets see if this converts better.

Op, what's the product price? is it really 300$? you've never mentioned it before.
And what's your niche?

Hi Op,
Sorry I am newbie when comes to paid traffic.. so what you are doing is using the same domain with 10 different pages?
and secondly..
how would 10 ad group targeting different pages but yet selling the same product convert better?
sorry for such noob question. Appreciate you for sharing all these information with us.

im not revealing the niche - but know its as competitive as insurance (i play in that niche as well so i know)

as for the product sold - its my commission total actually not a product per se
